Tiny Paint Chips

I have a couple of these really tiny paint chips on the side of the car on the doors. They're really small. You have to really look for it and look at it real close to see it. It doesn't really bother me. Is it possible that I could have got them on the highway from the debris?
I doubt it went to the metal. It's too small.

Do you have your mud guards installed? I took mine off, and I did noticed more debris hitting the body (especially lower door panels), but I haven't found any major scratches yet...

The paint chip is really small. Like a really really small dot. I don't even know how I saw it.

6mtv6, get one of those Acura pens from eBay. Comes very handy. Even if you have a small chip, fix it asap. They have paint on one side and clear coat on the other.

Nothing will protect your car from rocks or other debris that are thrown out from vehicles passing you or going the other way. If a rock is run over just right, it squirts out toward the side, right into your door or fender if you're in the wrong place. Besides doors and fenders, I've had chips on the side windows that I've heard when the rock hit (not my TL yet).

I'm thinking about getting the Acura pens. It's gonna be hard to touch it because the chip is so small.

Thanks,
They are touchup paint pen with Paint on one side and clear coat on the other. Very easy to use. You can buy on eBay. They come for $15-20 shipped and are marketed by Acura in Canada and lot of people sell those on eBay. They come in Acura Paint Code. I bought one for my NBP and came in handy to fill the chip I had on my pannel. Do a search "Acura Pen" on eBay and you'll get a lot.

I have a wdp and had 2 very small chips. 1 on the hood and 1 on the drivers door. I got the acura pen in wdp from ebay. They are extremely easy to use, but you get what you put into it. That is the job they do will not look professional. It basically just doesn't attract your eye anymore, expecially when I had black dots on a white car.

The chips cause small indentations and the paint will not bring the surface flush, you'll just have similarly colored crater. Also I would be careful before doing to large an area, at least in my case the wdp pen I got is not a perfect match for the wdp on my car. Oh well, looks better than before.

I just checked HandAaccessories.com and they have the paint pens but they don't have ABP or DGP. :'(

I sent an e-mail asking if they will get them soon.

They have ABP.

I have a small chip on the hood of my brand new car I hope this fixes it.

For very tiny chips the paint pens are not too bad. I recently patched two small chips on the hood and it's not noticeable anymore. Although, I agree with everyone else that the color match is only so so, therefore, using it on larger chips will be problematic.

The trick is to ensure the paint is confined to the tiny chip indentation. Of course, this is easier said than done. An old trick of mine was to use a very fine artist's brush and put a tiny dap of touch-up paint on the tip. Then carefully place the tip to the stone chip crater. The problem I find with a touch-up pens is that their tips are not sharp but rather straight and dull. They really should have made the tip as fine and sharp as possible, considering the fact even the instructions say it's for tiny chips.

Good luck with your repairs.

Yea I got two chips on my hood right where you can see the white underneath the anthracite paint.. all while driving my new car home on the freeway right off the lot immediately after purchasing it back in April! (very depressing I know- and no smily-face can express this for me enough).. It was out of the dealer's hands when I showed them and wouldn't do anything generous for me they weren't suppose to do except give me touch-up paint free. Told me simply use the back end of a match stick from a little match box. I spent a good hour on it and put on maybe 7 layers to get it as smooth as possible. I can't imagine doing any better job than I did.. But if you look for it, you can still easily see it. but if you don't know about it, you will never see it.. Before you always saw the white spots and kept thinking it was something that needed to be wiped off!

I never got a chip again after the first time driving it.. I still can't believe my bad luck...my first new car ever too.
