Hey everyone,

I had a question about tinting for my black 2006 Acura TL w/ Nav. I heard that with the Nav system, you are supposed to use a type of tinting material called Ceramic but when I called the tinting place today, they said that I could also use this material called Graphite and it would work exactly the same. They also said that Graphite looks better with a black car because it has a darker tone to it.

Does anyone have any input on this?

Call Archer at LA Tint in Alexandria, Richmond Hwy. They use Formula One tint, just had mine done last Friday. Va legal 35% back 50% front. Looks sweet!!

I had my wife's CR-V done back in 2000, the tint looks like it was done last week as well.

I used the Formula One Pinacle tint and my Nav works fine. I came out of the parking lot, put it in debug mode and I was tracking 8+ satellites.

 

Can you find out who manufactures the film, that way you can do your own research on it's properties. Some of the more popular brands are 3M, F1, Llumar, Madico, Solargard that come to mind. You can also check the Tint Center

 

I just got back from a Tinting place in Alexandria called Solar Gard. The dude working there was awesome and gave me a sweet deal. He put the Graphite film on my car with 35% back and 50% front which are both legal.

The tinting job looks SWEET. It has a much darker tone than Ceramic and my GPS unit still works perfectly. The darker tone really accentuates my black TL.

ya i just got my windows tinted yesterday with solarguard , and then i drove from ct to ny to get doms unit and i had no promblems with the nav at all.
