Tint shops in 205/Questions
I just purchased (1/19) my 05 TL w NAVI and am looking to get the windows tinted. I have read a bunch of forums about using non-metallic and metallic tint and the moleskin.
I've been to two dealers around the Birmingham area and both have looked at me with blank stares when I mentioned using "moleskin" when tinting my windows. I tried a third person and he said he could get some and do it with Johnson Ceramic tint for about $335+ tax.
So I guess I have a couple questions....is Johnson ceramic tint a good tint, do I need to go ceramic because of the XM and Navi? And is $335+ tax a good price?
I'm a newbie to this so if I am beating a dead horse I apologize, just want to get whats best for my new girl. Thanks in advance.

Oh man, $335 for tint??? Come to my shop!
The long and short of it is that I haven't seen any member on here that had a problem with metallic tint on their TL (with navi). But if you want to be on the safe side (and I recommend it) definitely consider the ceramic (or carbon).
I'm familiar with a range of brands, but I have never heard of the one you mentioned. I recommend you find a reputable installer, with a comprehensive lifetime warranty before you settle on brand - most brand name films are really of the same quality.
3M, SolarGard, F1, Illumar are all top in my experience.
Watch that price and keep us posted.

I too am most likely getting an 05 TL. I have one on order from a dealer in another state. I had to pay for shipping but this thing is about 7 grand below blue book and only has 35K miles on it.
I am wondering about the tint as well. I have always taken all of my cars to a place in town here and they have always done an awesome job, but all this talk of "moleskin" makes me wonder if they are going to know what I am talking about. They have tinted a Mustang GT, Chevy Cavalier and a Mazda6 for me over the last several years and all have looked awesome, they do a super job. However, if I am understanding correctly on the TL, there is no felt between the rubber seal and the windows, right? Can a tint shop put the moleskin on for me or is it going to be a blank stare and they thing I am talking greek? Is this actually pretty common in the tint world?

Give Jim Helbing a call at Motorvations. He is a great tuner a few minutes north of Birmingham. I used to go to him when I lived there. His number is 2056613600 he could probably point you in the right direction.
