Sorry I bet this has been asked a few times and I searched for a few minutes but couldnt find it (it may just be im a moron). My question is, what does the percent mean? Is it the percent (of light??) that you can see, or the percent (of light??) that it blocks? I saw a 5% tint on this site and it seemed really dark. Can anyone explain this to me?

Also, Whats the law with tinting in New York? Thanks

 

I *think* the % is how much light is allowed into the car. So the lower the % the darker. Sorry, don't know the NY laws.

New York law at window tint legal 55% at front window and you can do what ever you want in rear 35% was fine.

 

the percentage is the amount of light that will come through the tinted window, so 5% tints will allow 5% of the light through the window, which is why it looks so dark.
