To tint or not to tint
Hey everyone!
I just got my 07 NBP/ebony interior TL with Nav last week and I'm still very excited about it!! I was wondering if tinting your windows makes a difference at all for maintenance purposes for the interior of the car (especially for the seats). I know some folks think tints look good on the car; but if I'm getting one I'm doing it to help keep my leather seats from deforming under the sun's heat. Let me know if tints actually help on this. I live in Georgia, so the sun tends to get real hot in the summer time. Thanks!

GO DAWGS!! SICK'EM!!
<=== I have 05 NBP/Ebony/nav
Go get your window tinted and go to Solar Works in Alpharetta. Cost me $330 for formula one 35% tint.
I am in GA too. And I have the same color combine as your and it keep my car cool during our ATL hot summer.

I'm probably the only guy on acurazine to think maybe I went too dark with 35%. It's been only a day now since the tint job and I'm starting to think it is just right. I decided to tint not only to enhance it's appearance, but to protect the interior and also the convenience of it when the sun is at a low angle and shining in my eyes.
I wouldn't go darker on the back window as someone else recommended. the 2 rear windows look like they have darker tint already because of the amount of light that comes thru the front windshield, so to go darker on the back window will only make the 2 back windows look even darker, which will cause a greater contrast between the front and back windows. Again this is just MO
Note: I'm in WI, so I don't have the same sun factor as a lot of people on here do.

I say get the tint. I am in the Atlanta area too...and I have a NBP w/ebony interior too...the sun is too intense here to go without tint....you'll end up with a faded rear deck and the inconvenience of a steaming hot interior on EVERY hot day....do it.

Get the tint. You'll need it especially with your color combo during those hot summers. It protects the interior and makes the car look even better.
If you do decide to tint, make sure you are informed about moleskin/felt. A search will bring up a lot of info.

So if I go get them tinted, do the folks need to watch out when tinting the rear window. I read in the manual to be careful on this area as the antenna and the rear defroster is over here. Just concerned that the tint folks will ruin those. Also, does this destroy the warranty if I do this? Thanks!

Go to a certified installer and they will do the job right with
material that does not interfere with stereo or nav units
Also comes with their own warranty
The kid down the street with some unknown tint-- pass

they do awesome work. They have been in business for 20+ years in same place. Tinting in ATL makes a big difference, the cabin is much cooler in summer and AC works less. It keeps that UV off your leather, and interior and helps protect it. The leather should still be treated periodically, but it does not dry out as fast with tinited windows. All my cars from 1993 on were tinted (since I have bene in ATL) the pics show how all 3 of my TLs looked tintied. The tinting is 35%, looks a tad darker due to the way I shoot the pictures.

Tint. Factory tint is 75%.
Like this:
Plus: it's Florida legal and you can see other traffic to the side at night. You can't tell from the pic but I have a light (Camel) interior. It's well protected with 35% ceramic tint.

I put 30% Llumar ATR metallic tint all around. It reflects the solar energy well, cuts glare and I didn't notice any difference with my Navi afterwards. Looks great and protects the leather.

Tint that shit. That's like the first "mod" i do to the car. I believe that it's mandatory to tint your windows (where legal, of course) as soon as you get your car. Other than the fact that it looks good, it really will help prolong the life of the interior materials. Get moleskin or you'll get scratches. Don't use windex or the film will turn purple. Get 20% if it's legal.
