Tint Issue
Tint Issue
I see a few other TL's that have the same problem
the rear quarter windows have an area missing tint
because the tint is done from the inside and the
rubber part doesn't allow you to get film there.
If anyone has a solution please let me knoww

lol, actually they can do the full quarter by hand cut the films and put them in without remove the rubber. All can be done within 30 mins maxinum. Because when I come to get the car, I see the 2 quarter was missing about 2 mm away from the rubber, the guy said that they use machine to cut the films and it was the original from the machine cut. I checked both side and they look exactly same 2mm missing away from the rubber. I told him that they look ugly and mention about my research online that a pro tint shop would have done this perfectly. The guy was happy to bring back the car inside and tell me to wait. After that 30 mins, the car came out again with 2 quarter glass fully covered. I was told that the new films were hand cut to satisfy me.
They also charge me $60 to install mole skins for the front doors. I was confident to leave the car for them at that time because I saw they were working on a BMW and Mercedes.
This is the store I used to tint my TL 07. Check out their gallery for TL pictures.

All you should know is a pro tint shop should have done the quarter glasses completely, and you need to have them knock their head about this problem before you leaving the car for them. 2nd is you need to know that a TL 07 must install the felt (mole skins). The tint shop will charge approx. more $30/door (labor fee to remove each door panel to install felt even they may know how to install without remove the panel) or you can buy a kit for around $30 and install yourself (check the sticky topic in this forum), or you can buy just the felt 10 foot itself (enough to cover 4 door) for just under $6. Contact me if you need to buy it. I post this information in the sticky topic but I think they removed for their selling purpose of the hold kit.
1st:
Do the moleskin. Cost me $20 per door. The installer gave me the "we've never had a problem without moleskin" line. I bought it halfway and only did the front. A few weeks later and I've got scratches in the back - now I gotta go back and get 'em fixed.
2nd:
They CAN do the whole quarter window. Either cut to the right size and "slide" the tint under the rubber seal or some have even had the whole quarter window glass removed, tinted and replaced. Don't take no for an answer, or, take it somewhere else.

i got my tinted 2 weeks ago. the guys has been tinting cars windows for 13years. He did everything for me for $150 including moleskin. He cuts out the film outside of the car and he cuts out little piece rubber so the film can slide between the glass and gasket without damaging the film.
