Correct me if I'm wrong, but factory tint is 75% all-around (except windshield) and offers UVA/UVB protection, right? Does the windshield have any sort of clear coating that offers similar protection again that evil yellow star in the sky? If so, then does darker tint offer anything besides looks?
The tint will help preserve the interior as not as much light is penetrating and the UV rays aren't putting wear on the leather and plastic bits. Not to mention the interior of your car will feel a little cooler on hot summer days.
As for the windshield I'm not too sure, perhaps google "AP Tech automotive glass" as they are the OEM distributor of the TL's glass to see if they offer some protective qualities.
tint makes a huge difference compared to oem glass in rejecting thermal heat and UV rays. much more protection for your car interior and your interior temperature, while also reducing glare from cars behind you and providing an extra security measure (keeps people from looking in easily). tint is always the first thing i do to any car and it makes a world of difference both in terms of protection and aesthetics.
i think factory "tint" is like 85/90 and doesn't have nearly the protection real tint does.
My side windows definitely have slight tint to them. I doubt 95% would even be noticeable so the 75% I saw posted in other threads on this topic made sense to me.
i've had 70% put onto my front windows after getting multiple tickets for darker tint (now have 20%) and i can tell you that oem glass is most likely NOT 75. they weren't even close to the same shade.
my windshield is 80 and it's a much darker shade than any oem glass so def not 75
Maybe Acura bumps it up bc 'luxury' but it's always been my understanding Honda is about 5%.
Really...who cares? That number means nothing.
Hey guys, I can confirm it's around 75%. I had a police officer voluntarily test it for me after I got my 15% installed all around the car, it came to 11% on the officer's reading.
I went 5% or 10% under what is legal. I can't remember now. Darker but not too dark to grab attention. It's the same all around. I don't like the darker in the rears than the fronts look.
So...40%...I think...
Notice how you can still see that sexy bitch in the front. Oh yea my wife was there too.

Too bad for him, I have a prescription.
Hey, how did you get a prescription for that??? Sensitive eyes?
I had my Lasik doctor write a script about six years ago after I had gotten a ticket. Think it reads "please allow window tint for sensitive eyes". I took the script to court and the judge dismissed the ticket. I still keep that script with my registration and insurance, but I haven't had another cop break my balls since then. Mine is only 35%.
