35% means that the tint only lets thru 35% of the available light.
65% is blocked out.

The higher the # (50%), the more light passes thru it.
The lower the # (20% or even 5%), the more light it blocks.

A few things to take into consideration are the laws in your state and the color of your interior. The darker the interior, the darker the tint will appear to be. If you have black interior, even 35% will look pretty dark.
Also consider how driving at night will be effected. I've driven cars with 5% and cars with 50%.... IMHO, I think that 35% is just the right amount... Not too light (50%) and not so dark as to be distracting to the driver (20% or less...).

Thanks for the info. I am having the dealer do it and he says they use 35%.

I just got my '05 NBP/Ebony TL on Thursday. Got it from the dealership with 35% tint all around and I think that's just dark enough. Looks good, is legal, and doesn't distract me in the slightest.

Not yet. I first have to find my digital camera, which appears to have gone into hiding after my last long trip. Secondly, everyone else around the house has been driven crazy listening to me planning and obsessing over this car purchase for the last month. I'm waiting until I've got the place to myself to take some decent photos, or I'll never hear the end of it.

If I find my camera, I'll snap a couple of quickies of the windows for you.

Here is a pic of 35%..... It will be darker considering you're getting ebony interior, but you get the idea of what it will look like in the sun...

Team Anthracite website

There are other pics here, but my car is towards the bottom of the page. Just look for my screen name.

Yup. Looks a lot like mine, sans the 18" gun metal rims and wing spoiler. Gives a pretty good idea of how the 35% tint feels on the NBP/Ebony.
