In my opinion I would go with 0-15% for the back and 35-50% on the front (nothing on the windshield). Not sure what state you're in but here in michigan fronts aren't suppose to be tinted and getting pulled over is definetly a possibility. I had limo in the back and 35% on the front ones with my old honda and never had an issue with police.

I got 5% all the way around and an 8" visor strip. I love it and yes it does present a problem backing up in DARK areas. I dont have a prob in areas lit up even if its just a lirrle. I also have the back up camera on mine too that helps a lot too. You may get in trouble with the fuzz though so it may be a good idea to 15 or 20.

You're the only person I've heard of who can see out of it fine. I doubt you have 5% or that you really can see out of it fine but that's ok.

I have 35 on the front and 15 on the rear three. Nothing on the windshield.

5% means that 95% of the light that gets through the 75% factory tint is blocked. IOW, about 3% of the available light gets through. So, at night, without bright street lighting.... fahgedaboudit. You're blinded to the sides.

Even with 35 (+75) ... see my photos again above...., I have to put down my windows to see SAFELY what is to the sides or rear. You can do your own math but I understand asking if you have night vision if you can see OK through 5%. It would hinder me. But that's your decision if you feel the trade off is worth it for having a cool appearance.

I'm noting the change in "demographics" from when the 3G was a new model and you needed nearly $40k to be able to get one.

Most of our members then were established, upper middle class, often middle-aged adults. The forum had a different tone then. There wasn't a whole lot of talk about mods other than changing to LED bulbs on the interior or a A-Spec kit, or CAI.

Now, younger folks can buy a six year old 3gTL (2004) for well under $10k. And, being younger, you guys are more into modding it and/or making it faster. To some of us, that amounts to an attempt to "gild the lily". An old saying which means that you can't make a lily any better by gold plating it and you will probably make it a lot worse if you try.

I've had my 3G TL now for going on six years and, to me, it's just as exciting, just as quick... if not quicker... than the day I picked it up. I'm still learning things about it and I studied the owner's manual for 3 weeks while I waited for mine to come in from the factory. I know this sounds bogus, but the price of my TL was higher than what I paid for my single-family house in Florida. It is the most expensive thing I ever bought. So, I'm taking real good care of it.

PS: It's even sweeter now that there are no more payments!

PPS: I like my tint and wouldn't want it any darker. (This is a lesson on how to bring a post back on topic so a mod doesn't e-smack you. )

As stated in my signature, the mileage on my '04 TL is 19,xxx. And the 35/12 tint is pristine... holding up well.

I'm right there with you on keeping the car from looking too "riced out" thats why i've spent so much time on this website researching what looks good and what doesn't.

35% front & sides...........15% rear

A wise man once told me to always tint the rear glass one shade darker than the rest because the rear head rests are too close to it which makes it look lighter (beside the fact that alot of sunlight comes in through rear glass which also brightens up the look of the side tints).

PS---gottan luv the tinted front.

You got your car from someone like me!

My daily beater is my Jeep Wrangler. It is impervious to weather, parking lot dings, dirt, mud, alligators, etc. It has its drawbacks. I can drive over a dime and tell you whether it's heads or tails.

But my TL is reserved for road trips and more civilized occasions. It is a Grand Tourer extraordinaire. I make a 500 mile round trip from Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando about six times a year. So, not only do I have low miles.... but, most of them are highway miles. In between trips, it is in my garage, covered to keep the dust off. I usually wash it and do a quick detail on Sundays and a complete detail and Zaino twice a year. With a clear bra, there are NO paint chips.

Whoever gets it after me will, for all intents and purposes, be getting a new car.

Oh, and they will be getting the best premium TINT available for this car with navi. Because I drive in "foreign" territory a lot, I elected to keep the tint legal and not to severely restrict my night vision. (Staying on topic. Sort of.)

I agree with your wise man fable but you also have tan leather & I have black...I think I might just go 35% all around. Looks good, thanks for the pics

I absolutely love my 5% tint all around. I wouldn't want anything else. It's tough at night when there's not a lot of light but it's manageable.

I live in Florida too, I got that same tint. 15% is perfect in the back for me. Im thinking of going 15% in the front and 75 or 50% in the front

I had 15% all around on my WDP TL-S and it was perfect! Can still see out pretty well at night, but nice and dark during the day.

I just want my NBP TL-S to blend better, dont necessarily want darkness...do you guys recommend 35% or 50% just to get a slight tint on there. I know dark interior makes a difference, of course mines black.

I'd go with 35%. Nice darkness with an OEM look to it. I had this on my old TSX.

You guys with navi need to look at the owner's manual re: tint. It says not to use metallic tint on the back window as it will interfere with the GPS antenna which is under the package shelf.

There are only two non-metallic tints that I know of: Huperoptic and Formula One Pinnacle Ceramic.

The sides don't matter as much as far as the navi goes.

No offense man but to say you can see fine out of a 5% tinted car at night in an area with no street lights is total BS!!!! There is absolutely no way!

5% and 15% tint is too dark IMO not only does it make driving at night a pain in the ass, but it looks kind on the ghetto side. I think the best tint for those that like somewhat darker is 20%, and those that like all around nice tint is 35%. I have 35 on my TL-S and love it. Looks the classiest I think.

I have 20% all the way around except front windshield, and its kind of hard to see at night out of the windows, but still ok. If i would of got the front tinted i probably would of had more vision problems
