TINT 5% or 15% Opinions Please PICS WANTED
I got an 05 NBP TL. I'm deffinately looking to have the same % all around. I have ugly 15% on the back and a different shade of 15% on the front. It doesn't feel that dark to me. I'm getting it redone tomorrow. Opinions: do you think I should go 5% or 15%. I like it real dark, but how bad is it at night? I can barely see now with 15%. SHOW PICS PLEASE

Sorry I don't have pics but I have 50 on the windshield and 20 all around and it's pretty hard to see out of the sides...If you really want it dark go for the 5 but I think if I were to redo my tint I'd do 50 on the windshield with 15 all around or with 5 around the back and 15 on the front. I think it flows nicely, but if you don't like the different %s than maybe go for the 15 or 5.

15% and 5% are too dark IMO and look kind of on the ghetto side. Since you obviously like dark I would go with 20%. I actually have 35% all around on my 07 TL-S and love it. Looks the classiest I think.
Sorry I cant help you with pics of 5% but just imagine a completely black window lol.

I've got 20's all around and really like the look. Just be careful-if you go too dark on the side windows, the police will give you trouble.

Even if front window tint were legal I don't think I'd do it. I really like the dark on the back windows and what not but I still want to be able to see out the front ones

I had 5% all around, first day I had them done I got pulled over at LAX but let me off with a warning. 3 months later I got another one but let me off again and got me for no front license plate, blah. Got pulled over again 1 month ago and finally got the ticket, catch my drift?. you will get a ticket for it, sooner or later.

(I feel like an old man up in here with all you 16 year olds! )
What state do you live in? Do you want to be legal?
Here's a pic of my LEGAL in Florida 35/15:

In my album (click on my name and it's on the lower right corner) is a pic of 15% tint on a NBP with tan interior. It's not as dark as I want it to be.
Go with 5%, especially if you have the tan leather.
I'd post a pic on here but can't do it on a work computer

Here's my TL-S with 15% tint all around. I can't recall which brand tint it is, but it's very high quality. I have no problems with viewing out the rear at night, and it still looks pretty dark in the sunlight.

You guys buying used TLs should do a search on the tint topic or check the garage for copious threads on the topic.
And keep in mind that, if you have Navi, the owner's manual warns not to get metallic tint as it interfers with the antenna for the Navi which is under the package shelf in the back window. Some TL owners say they have used metallic and their navi still works but we don't know how much BETTER it may work without the metallic tint. It may not be a big deal in an area with strong satellite signals, but you will feel it in areas where the signal is weaker.
I spent the extra few bucks to get ceramic tint (see signature). Why spend $2,000 for Navi and then compromise it to save a few dollars on tint.
If money is that tight, just have them do the rear window in non-metallic and the rest of the car in the cheaper stuff.

I HATE THE COPS IN BOSTON..... I had 20% on my TL... and I swear EVERY WEEKEND was a 40 or 50 dollar ticket..... ( I can't remember since it was like almost a year ago)... I had to take the tints off and put 35%..... which is BARELY tinted..... it's BS....

YO man I love your ride.... i was thinking of getting those EXACT rims.... the Legends by RonJon fit the TL perfect.... they almost look like type-s rims..... so are they worth it?

i have a WDP and tan interior, i put on 5% on the back windows(all 4 not legal in NJ) because i wanted the darkest possible. Like a previous poster said its a little hard seeing at night but if you know how to use mirrors you will be fine.
As for the others who said it looks ghetto
i think it looks fine dark and actually got complements from all my friends. And depending on where you live you could get tickets...if you have asshole cops around.

And my friend had what he called "double limo tint" (2.5%?) with 35% on the windshield and never had a problem with the police. And trust me it was dark.
Side note: I think if you go dark (<20%) you should get 50% on the windshield. It doesn't effect visibility and it really makes the car flow better. I don't like seeing a car with 5% all around and nothing on the windshield.

One on the right for me
so you aren't allowed to have 20% but it is the cops fault for enforcing that?

What about tint that fades? All tint eventually fade, I have 35/20, and when I got it tinted I remember thinking its perfect. I've had 20/5, 20/20, 35% all around on previous cars, and thought I will be fine this way. Well the 35% up front now looks like its barely tinted wtf. When I roll down the window you can see the fade line!
I'm thinking of getting mine redon as well maybe 20/15 or 15/5. I just want it to blend in instead of looking like my front is not even tinted...look at my avatar
