Timeless!
Timeless!
I truly think the 3G TL Is a timeless design. IMO the 3G looks just as good if not better than most new cars of today.
For an almost 9 year old car to do this ... that, in my book, is impressive. Perhaps I'm off base, only time will tell. It's too early to go out on a limb and say the 3G could be a collector car, but she's off to a great start!
Opinions?

My 55 year old stepdad who has owned nothing but junker cars all his life and could care less about my car even complimented it a couple weeks ago. He said "Ya know Tim, this is a really great looking car. It has nice lines and you would never know how old it is by looking at it." That surprised me and I do a lot to keep it looking good. (Stock and clean)
...nothing a 'push-up' bra couldn't fix.
I remember considering trading in my TL-S for the 2013 RDX.. the salesperson goes to me "yah, its time for you to upgrade.. I mean I see those TLs and say 'oh yah, I remember those'.."
I muttered 'whore' and walked out.

I do agree about timeless, I think it is a classic design that hides it's age well, especially the 07-08, and the TL-S even more so. The only other car I really feel does the same thing is the mid-cycle refresh BMW E39s, so 2001-2003 models. A black 530i drove by me this morning, and IMO, its still a headturner.
Timeless? I don't know, but most hondas/acura still look good 10-15 years down the road. Shit, some of the ppl's cars on this forum look brand spakin new!!
(still cant figure out why theres a tape player in a 2008...) haha

"The overall design conveys a feeling of tension," says Jon Ikeda, chief designer for the Concept TL, "like the muscles on a sprinter's arms and legs when he's ready to launch off the starting line."
"In California, and especially on the freeways, the part of a car you see the most is the rear end," explains Ikeda. "So we wanted to make sure that this concept looks just as fast and aggressive from the rear as it does in front."

Overally I'd agree that the 3G TL has held it's looks well. Stil very contemporary. I'll continue to drive my 05 until it dies. Very well put together, still feels solid even after 8 years. By contrast my 99 avalon started falling apart from all directions.
Maybe someday the Japanese cars will be looked at as timeless and get the respect they deserve. At least that's what I'm hoping with my 94 RX-7...

The reason they have tape decks is for people to listen to books on tape. In 2004 the target audience for this car was probably middle-aged middle class men, not 17 year olds listening to 50 Cent on their iPods.
