Time to say goodbye to the TL and hello to the 335i Coupe.

I have had three great years with my TL, and although I don't post that often, I am a frequent reader. I have a great time with my TL and it's time for a new car. I ordered a BMW 335i Coupe 6mt, I'm pretty stoked...

I have a few questions though, I always trade in my cars, but I wanted to try to sell my TL private party. I will be posting in the black market forum probably tommorow, but my question is: What's the best place to post classified ad on the internet. I was looking at Autotrader.com and KBB.com? Anyone have experience with online classifieds? I'm looking for some personal experiences.

One more question. I have the extended warranty to 100K miles. Anyone who has bought the extended warranty know if it is transferable. I think it is, but I can't remember. I think it will help me sell the car if the warranty is transferable.

Thanks...

Hello. I have had some good luck posting my cars on Craigslist....though it may not work as well with a higher priced vehicle. All I ever got from Auto Trader were Nigerian scam artists telling me "they have a client that is intersted in my car, and they will pay the full asking price, etc etc..."

As far as I know, most extended warranties are always transferable. They usually just require a small transfer fee...$50 - $150.

Good luck with the sell. That's one awesome car you're getting!

You're going to love the 335i. My buddy has it and the low-end torque is amazing on the car! You'll hit 90mph on the freeway without even knowing it.

Good luck with the sale on your TL!

Have fun w/the 335i- I'm going to test the sedan in about a year.

I had luck with Autotrader-- paid about $40 to advertise in the print edition, and the internet listing was free. I received several calls within an hour of my wife's Civic being listed on the web, and one of the callers that day bought it.
The listing of my Toyota Camry on Craigslist in Los Angeles was very ineffective, but at least I didn't get any scammers responding.

Thats the car I want. What color int and ext did you order. Did you get the sport pkg

with the awesome 18" wheels? The 335i is also available in an xi AWD version.

Have you read about the 135i coming out in the spring?

When I recently sold my 97 3.0 CL, I put it on Craigs List...got a few calls in the time it was up before it expired. Then, I put the posting back up on a Sunday night and the next Monday, I got more calls that day then I did during the 10 or so days it was up previously. So, I think timing (time of day / day of the week) has something to do with it being seen. Also, something I picked up from another posting on there, use keywords in your ad. At the very bottom, just write something like, "KEY WORDS: Acura, BMW, Lexus, Toyota, Camry, Accord, etc". This way when people search for one of those cars, yours will pop up in their results. I had a guy looking for an Accord call me because he saw my ad.

One of the sites (it's either Autotrader.com or Cars.com) also cross posts to KBB.com. So, you get two for one. The other has the option to post in print ads too. And lastly, one of the them also cross posts on something like 100 of their affiliated sites. Personally, I think for low priced vehicles, the print ad is good that someone is just going to pick up at the grocery store. For higher priced vehicles, I like the idea of multiple internet sites.

Good luck

OK guys looks like I will try Autotrader, and hopefully won't get any scammers. I put it up on craigslist too, it's free!

I've also got some 19" Axis Hiro's to sell as well, I'll probably just sell those seperate, They'll probably go pretty fast in the black market.

Yea I test drove the g37, IS350, and the new C series, as well, and nothing compared to the BMW. I thought the G37 was shit compared to the BMW, and not much better, if at all than my Acura. That car is seriously hyped up. My dad has a 350z and the G37 felt slightly faster and the interior was crap. They have this brushed aluminum in the car that looks like rice paper. Not impressed.

The IS350 was boring, and the C series was something my mom would drive and it was pretty slow.

I actually also test drove a TL Type S, and it had liked it, but it had two strikes for me against it for me. One was it was familar and I wanted something new... and second it was expensive. Just a few more thousand and I could step into the BMW. It was nice though.

I don't who would buy that car with out the sports pkg! I had to have those rims, and the sport seats. No AWD for me, too heavy and with no snow and it rains like 3 days a year in Southern California, whats the point?

I got the car fully loaded minus the Active steering, Active cruise control, and the HD radio (Who listens to FM anymore... pfff).

I have seen the 135i and I really thought I wanted it, but the looks are not my taste, and I think it's a bit too small for me. It be a great second/track car though... maybe in a few years...

I didn't mean it was expensive for me, I mean I thought it was a bit overpriced.

I had luck selling my last car on AutoTrader. It was quiet for the first few weeks and then I was getting a dozen calls a day.

That's pretty good compared to what's been out there. When I bought my TL in August this year, they were offering 5.9% I believe for up to 5 years or 2.9% for up to 2 years.

Sure thing - I'm sure it helped me out, since I got the one guy looking for the Accord call. On the other hand, it probably pisses some people off that are looking only for a particular car, haha. But hey - it's free, what do they expect, right?

I'd go for autotrader.com. They are linked to other sites so you will get good exposure. Their fees are a good value for the money.

I'm a big bimmer fanatic, good choice on the car you'll love it! I've driven it many times, it's a beautiful car. If it was priced $10k cheaper fully loaded I would have bought it too!
