Comparing just about everything you know on the two vehicles, which one would you buy and why? I know my reasons but I'm in a tight spot and can't find my way to making a decision...
Based on (interior,motor)etc.
08' Acura TL
07' Infiniti G35x

FWD vs AWD. Acura interior is nicer. G35 rides better. You must sit in both to make that ultimate decision... I spent 2 months test driving various cars from e350, 535, a6, rl..It's tough.
I personally went with M37.

I'm passing on my current car to someone in need actually. I love the G35 interior.. very lovely and the cluster is beautiful. The car purrs / growls at any rpm, its a great drive. They both are.. Both are financially okay for me. The TL insurance is actually a little more then for the g35. It is just such a hard choice.. it literally is driving me crazy!!! I wish the TL had an actual mpg indicator and not just an average, just a pet peeve.

I used to like seeing my MPG on my 5 series but it was more of a novelty. I don't miss it at all. I like how the trip computer shows the ave MPG/MPH.
I was in the same situation a few months ago. I ended up going with the TL because it seems like a more reliable and smoother ride. I liked the power in the G35x but it seemed noisier, rough and a little cramped inside. I'm not sure if it is actually smaller though.

Are all G35x's AWD? Around here (UT), a rear wheel drive car with a light rear end and lots of power is no good in the winter. But if you either don't have to deal with winter, or it's AWD, then that's not much of a factor.
I've owned two Honda's and two Nissan's. Well, three Honda's if you count the TL. I have a stigma with Nissan's since I had to do WAY more work on them (at about the same mileage, year, comparable model and condition) than the Honda's. They weren't bad cars, they just required a lot more attention and repairs than the Hondas. Therefore I steered away from the G35 almost instantly. My wife wanted a minivan and didn't like the Odyssey so much, so we went with a Sienna. But I'm about done with Nissans. I gave them two chances and while they didn't fail miserably, they certainly didn't go 100K miles with no major repairs like both the Accords did.
Bias aside, I believe the TL get's better mileage but the G35x has more power. AWD is sweet but sucks gas a bit more. Not as much torque steer that way though. Also, the back seats seem a little smaller in the G35x though that could just be perception. Ultimately I'd get whichever you prefer after driving them both. Usually it's pretty clear cut. I remember when I was comparing the TL and TSX. I kept trying to convince myself that the TSX was as nice as the TL after test driving them both several times. Once I realized what I was doing, and that is was kind of stupid, I pulled the trigger on the TL right away.

I would keep your current car if I were you. These other cars are not that much better or different than what you already have- just seems like a waste of time/money to do a favor for a friend. Suppose the next car is a lemon? Insurance would be an insignificant savings compared to changing cars anyway- I bet there's less than $100/year difference if that.
If you need significant (>$400) car payments to buy your next car, you should really think twice about things because you can't afford your car in the first place. There was an earlier thread about someone having to part with their TL because they can't afford it- that could be you if you lose your job or income source.

Well I sold my car to a close relative who is paying monthly instead of paying me in full. I am driving a 2004 Civic in the mean time and will come back to a TL in the near future, most likely in June! Prices are sure to drop by then as well which is why I'm going to wait it out. I've done some in depth researching and test driving as well and I am not satisfied with Infiniti. The G is a joy to drive but I'm concerned with longevity and quality. Almost every single 2007 G I've been in has silly non sense type problems. EX: cigarette lighter RARELY works, cheap pasty materials that scratch and peal, doors that don't open, broken sun roofs, seat motor issues and I think that is it. That sounds like to much of a head ache when I am certain that I won't have any with an Acura. Plus Infiniti has a negative customer service reputation.

My wife has an FX35 and it has been a flawless automobile. Interior is really nice, but I like my Acura interior also.
Her "XUV" handles like nothing I've ever been in, so I can imagine a car would handle even better than that. The engine/exhaust sound the Infiniti makes is the best sounding 6 cylinder exhaust I've ever heard. The perfect mix of aggression and sophistication. And the best brakes of any car I've driven in my entire life.
God help us if anything ever breaks though.
Either way, you will be in good shape.....
Oh wait, the Acura has the better clock!!!! Get the Acura.....

Yeah I would agree if that was the case, but the person who has the car now wants the car paid off (to me) asap and is paying a hefty monthly payment and since this is a forum amongst grown adults, I really have no problem giving out the information. He gave me a down payment of ten grand, owes me five more and is paying 500 a month to get it finished quick!
This is my opinion as well. I would buy a G35 over a regular TL, but I'd take the Type-S TL over the G35.
The G35 has some advantages, including keyless entry/start, time/radio/temp built into navigation screen and more power. I'm not sure what the differences would be between the G35x and G35s, the x may not have navi.
I think the TL body looks better though. Also, Infiniti cars seem to be very trendy and the styles die out quicker than Acura. Maybe that's just my opinion.
When I was buying my car I narrowed my choice down to the G35S or the TL Type-S. I chose the TL for its style, the color (KBP) and the fact that there are way too many G35s in Los Angeles. The Type-S also comes with more stock features inside. Backup camera, tilt-down mirrors, etc.

I was actually debating between the two cars as well. A few months ago, I let my uncle in law borrow my 04 TL and he drove thru a puddle of water which caused the engine to hydro-lock. He bought a new engine & replaced it himself. Next thing you know the transmission goes bad - replaced by Acura under my warranty - Then some bearing goes bad in my AC compressor, causing this supercharged noise when I accelerate...I had that replaced thru Curry Acura. The car seems to working fine now. However, I don't feel comfortable driving around in a car with someone elses engine.
I'm looking for a car which has the latest technology such as backup cam, paddle shifters, ipod intergration, etc. The G's interior seems somewhat cheap IMO compared to the TL. The TL has a lasting exterior appeal, even though the 4th Gen has been out for about 3 years. I cannot say the same about the G. In about a year or so when the 3rd Gen comes out, I worry that the current G will look garbage - just as how the 1st gen looks, which came out around the same time as the 04 TL's. The performance advantages of the G over TL is a no brainer, but I would rather sacrafice quality over that.
Long story short - I'm going to trade in my 04 TL for an 08 TL-S this summer. I'm sure I can get a certified used between 20-25k

I agree, the seats do not do justice for me as well. I also feel very cramped, and there are floor rises on the sides of both front and passenger next to the center dash. Very annoying, like the Lexus IS250. The power is great, but F**K it, I am going with the TL. The interior quality is 100x better then nissan, there good looks wear off with time as there quality is SO SO.
