that was awesome back half a decade ago when it happened~
the engineers who developed the gen3 in los angeles took a TL - added a turbo and safety equipment and arrived a the Hill
No one thought they stood a chance at even finishing in a front wheel drive car

If you are ever in northern Ca and want to run on 3 miles of the most exciting track- track day schools run about $250 for a full day- in your car with a pro driver as your coach

.
While the engine, drivetrain and brake system remained stock, the team augmented the TL's 3.2 liter V6 with a cold air intake, and a custom exhaust header from Prototype Racing. A large diameter exhaust, a lightweight flywheel and a performance clutch were provided by Comptech USA. The suspension was modified with custom H&R coil-overs, a Progress adjustable rear sway bar and adjustable SPC camber ball joints and links. Lightweight Enkei racing wheels and Toyo RA-1 race compound tires were used for increased grip. Based on the results of windtunnel testing, an Acura A-SPEC aero kit was applied to lower the coefficient of drag, and a rear wing was added for increased high speed down force. These modifications plus the removal of luxury
and convenience features reduced the TL's weight to 2797 pounds (without driver), a 675 pound reduction from the stock TL.

I think at the time the TL raced no aftermarket brakes were in existence.

If it were a full weight car with 700 additional pounds they wouldn't have held up.

iirc they used racingbrake ET900 pads, special track only pads, a lot of the 25hr cars run them

The article said the brake system remained stock. Not sure if that includes the pads though, but it seems like it does.

Right. But given that they seem to cover every other modification made to the car it seems likely that a mention of different brake pads would have found its way into the articles.

I figured they had to have changed the pads. Looking at those rotors the stock pads would've faded long ago. But still, not too bad.

They failed to mention the Lexan windows.

Ok.

Comparing the civic modification chart to the one supplied for the TL it seems like they would have mentioned if the brake pads were changed, as it was listed for the civic.

The cast iron rotors would have to be over 1,000 degrees to glow like that. I seriously doubt the stock pads would be doing anything at that temp. Many so called "race" pads are not rated that high. There is absolutely no doubt the pads were changed on that car.
