Thule Rack System on a 3G TL

Hey gang,

Have any of y'all put a Thule on your 3G? I ask because I'm not at all satisfied with how the front bar foot/fit kits mount to the roof of the car. On my first installation attempt for the front bar the measurement of a 42.5" gap between the left and right footers was too wide and I had to narrow it by about a quarter of an inch to be able to tighten the 1188 fit kit clamp enough to make the bar even remotely secure. Now when I look at the front and rear rubber footers on the roof I see the rears look like the illustration in that they are literally sitting on the apex of the curve between the roof and the downslope, whereas the front rubber footers are what looks like at least a half inch too far apart and are resting more on the downslope than at the apex.

Thoughts?

Regards,
Shoez

A quick update, I took the front bar off and shortened the gap between the footers to 42.0" and the footer/fit kit fits perfectly; that half inch reduction made all the difference between a loose fit and a snug fit with the rubber pads sitting where they are supposed to fit.

Hopefully this thread will help someone out in the future.

Why did I just know that you'd engineer a solution?
