Are Three Inches Enough???

I just read about the new Lexus IS350, and saw some nice looking pictures, and I'm wondering if the additional three inches of width in the new IS will be enough to make that car reasonably roomy for a guy like me - 6'1", 220 pounds, 46" chest....

What do you guys think? I love my TL, but I'm going to be ready for something new within the next 9-12 months. Its either the new GS, another TL (4th generation '07 model in spring of 2006 maybe?), or something else....

I'd like to hear your thoughts...

acuraddict,

Hey, good to see you around.

I am looking at the IS350 to finally replace the TL (still driving the replacement I got, and waranty is up in Dec 06), but this time I am waiting for the second year.

As for the 4th Gen TL, I would not think that would be out until late 08 as an 09 model, as Acura and most makers seem to be on a 5 year cycle (3 years same/minor changes, 4th year minor makeover to headlights and tails to keep car fresh for 2 more years, 5th year last year). The TSX was introduced early in 2003, I guess that is why the makeover for 2006 though.

I think the front will be fine for you, the back seat though, will suffer, and I think the IS is 6 to 8 inches shorter than the TL (180 for the IS vs 186 to 188" for the TL depending on what Acura info you look at, not sure they ever fixed that either).

Don't forget to take advantage of the Lexus test drive in Sept/October, they will have the IS there, register at www.tasteoflexus.com (thanks to Rets for that info).

Take care!

I am about the same size, and the current IS and TSX are just too tight for me to be comfortable. TL is good because there is adequate headroom, and just enough extra width to have a feeling of space. It is amazing what a few inches here and there can do - heheheheh.

Infiniti M35 Sport with Journey package would be my choice.

I'm just not liking the looks of the tail end of the Infiniti M or the Q, and the interior is bizarre. I like my navi where I can reach it, this one reason I don't see myself in the RL.
