Ok so I am a little confused by this. I went ahead and placed an order based upon your order that you said you got. I am thinking about sending them back though when I get them but I am going to wait until your next set of pictures to see what they look like. But I have a question for you, do all of these lights pretty much replace each other? Like can the the lights you got for the license plate work inside and vice versa?

Yes they are all replaceable. Every bulb on the interior, trunk, license plate etc etc are all the same.
I apologize once again but its not until I got them all in there that I realized it wasnt quit the output I was looking for. I had some free time yesterday and thats when I swapped the lights I originally had in the license plate (pure white WLED-WHP) into the interior and realized they look better and much closer to the OEM output I noticed on the 09 TL I had as a loaner.

The pure white WLED-WHP are a dollar less than the other ones they are $4.95 a piece. I ordered 7 of them last night and it was under $40 bucks shipped so even worst case your not out that much money.

I will certainly take pics as soon as I get them however I have a feeling that you wont see much difference at all in the pictures. The new LED's should arrive on monday.

Thanks,
James

P.S. From what I understood from superbrightleds website unopened LED's are returnable however there is a small restocking fee. To me its not that big of a deal and I just put them on the for sale section if anyone wants them for cheap. They are still excellent LED's.

No worries, I should be recieving my leds that I ordered in the next day or two and I will open one up and put it in and see how it looks. I am curious to see both of them side by side on the lights inside to see the difference.

Hey very coool thanks for the writeup.
If you guys could follow up and post up pics/comments of the pure white WLED-WHP install that'd be great, pertaining specifically to how clean they look and if they look similar to the newer oem lexus/4g TL interior lighting. thanks

I will keep you guys updated the new pure whir WLED-WHP's should arrive Monday. They look VERY nice when I swapped them into the overhead map lights and were basically identical to the 09 TL I drove.

So I installed all my led's from superbrightleds.com tonight and I love all of them! They all were pretty easy to put in, just took a little time trying to get the bulbs out. I do have a question though, the led's that I put in will flicker if I start the car while they are on. They flicker in and out till the car starts then they will go off. Is there a reason for this? Did I do something wrong? And if possible is there anyway to avoid this?

Thanks!

Which bulbs are currently in your car? The single pure white WLED-WHP's or the first ones I tried the WLED-WHP5's? I noticed that they did not flicker at startup when I had my original WHP5's in there. On monday I received my WHP's single LED pure whites which I absolutely love but also noticed that if you start the car while they are on they will flicker to.

I to am also curious if there is a way to cure this so that the LED's dont get the power surges experienced during startup. I will be doing some research and post if I find anything.

Thanks,
James

P.S. I LOVE the color of the new WLED-WHP's on the interior.

Ok first off there are no back door lights just the front.

You will need a total of 9 WLED-WHP pure white to do everything you listed above.
Be advised though I did the trunk light a little different since it mounts sideways and the light didnt dispurse into the trunk correctly. It was still very simple and now the trunk lighting is absoutely perfect. I will get you pictures shortly.

9 = WLED-WHP (pure white)

Anyone have a fix yet for the flicker during engine start?

Ok here are my updated pictures showing the new pure white WLED-WHP single SMD LED's. MUCH MUCH better the output is perfect. I try and mess with camera settings the best I can to give the most accurate color and intensity of output but you know how that goes. Plus I couldnt get it 100% dark in my garage as I have windows in there. Anyway, here they are they are perfect and I highly recommend these from www.superbrightleds.com

Also, as pictured below you see how I customed installed the trunk LED to aim down. It was very simple to do especially if you have a soldering gun.

Only slight issue is that the LED's do flicker just slightly if they are on while you start the car. Its not that big of a deal but something I would like to fix if possible. Any thoughts?

I took this interior shot because I think it accurately shows the color of the output against the seats.

Another good picture that shows the actual lights and nice accurate color reflection on the door panel.

Another accurate color shot on the seat.

Closeup of the front overhead lights with the single LED installed.

Rear output.

Here is the trunk light. What I did was removed the LED from the holder and simply soldered the leads to the metal. You do have to solder them to the correct side as there is a + and - side. Once soldered simply bend the LED facing downwards. These are very wide output LED's so they disperse light into the entire trunk. The output is perfect!!

Does switching to LEDs still preserve the "fading" effect when closing the door?

Yes, although the fade is not quite as smooth as with the incandescent bulbs.

JTS I like the look of the new single LED's you got! Any word on the flickering issue? If the new single LED's you put in flicker then they both do because I have put both of them in, and if you start the car while they are on the definitely flicker.

Yeah he is pretty much exactly right. The actual fade is perfectly smooth until it drops down to a certain voltage then they just go off where as the original bulbs fade all the way till they are totally dim. Overall its not really that noticeable and I would say they fade long enough to where it looks perfectly fine.

No none of those are the right ones. When your browsing the webpage it will show up as WLED-xHP (since there are different colors they just put an x there). The actual part number is infact WLED-WHP for the pure white ones.
There is no way to link anything on their site since its setup differently but once at the site click "12 volt car bulbs", then "miniature wedge base", then scroll down into the second tab of bulbs labelled: "WLED Miniature Wedge Base bulbs with High Power SMD LEDs". The correct bulbs are the first ones listed in that section here is the picture of them:

Then from there just click buy it now in the picture and be sure to select "pure white" and thats when you will finally see them listed as "WLED-WHP". Select however many you want.

Hope this finally answers your questions.

James

Soooooo during the install, i was taking out the front dome light and broke the bulb and blew the fuse. Make sure to be very careful with those lights or youll end up with more of a pain than you started with

I used the V-led flank bulbs in the front & back map, vanity, license, and trunk light. They give a very white light. Do a search on google for a 15% discount code. I have had these in for a year with no problems.

v-leds coupon code = ACURAZINE = 15% off
v-leds also has an 8W white led that goes in the reverse lights. Understand that you may not get the best results from LEDs in this application. They look great from outside the car, but do not throw as much usable light as you might think.

Should I do it or not? The fact that I never liked flurescent light is driving me off this. Is the color different than flurescent light or something similar.

Thanks

^^ I actually went back to the incandescent bulbs since I was never a fan of white light for interior lighting, both in the car and in the home.

For anyone interested, I do have 4 white LEDs that I no longer need. Please PM me.

Since you are not a fan of whiter light then I would recommend not doing this mod.
If you wanna know what it looks like without having to buy anything go to a Lexus or Acura dealership at night and sit in a new TL or new Lexus. They all come with LED lights stock now and will give you a feel for what it would look like in your car.

take it out and put it back in. It may be the connection is weak. If not, replace the bulb

After completing the rest of the interior they just give off like a almost greenish light. After I swapped out a few more bulbs I tried the single pure white LED's that I originally put in the license plates and they are much better and look a lot more like the output of the OEM 09 TL LED bulbs. Hope this doesnt piss anyone off. The WLED-WHP5's certainly dont look bad but after a few days of having them in its the single pure white LED that best fits my needs. Just a FYI the bulbs are returnable if unopened.
Not upset at all...you're just trying to help...glad I didn't open the packages up yet. You said that the WHP5's gave a little greener color, what else didn't you like? Brightness? Focus vs. "flooding"? I'm thinking that just moving around the (2) pure white WHP's from the license plate -originally prescribed order- in the front map/dome and then the WHP5's in the rest of the interior will be fine. Who cares about the back passengers? Then again, I hate to open up the packages. Anyway, just seeing if you wouldn't mind elaborating.

just did the interior lights (domes + doors) with WLED-WHP LEDs and it was pretty easy. Definitely looks a lot better! But it's also not as bright as the pictures in this thread would appear. That's due to the exposure of the pics of course. But so far, I'd highly recommend this easy easy mod!

Just finished my install today after having to stop by CVS for a eye glass screw driver. Ended up doing the swap in the parking lot because I was so stoked to see the result.
Over all the light in my car is much better, and for $50 really adds to the class of the TL. Thanks for doing the research time for this install OP.

i just installed all mine... looks great, but I have the flickering issue as well. Is it just these bulbs that cause the flicker??? I have the WLED-WHP's.... or is it all aftermarket LED bulbs?

Quick Reply: For those that want LED interior lighting identical to OEM.
