For those that still have the rear decklid rattle.......

It took the dealer 9 hours to figure out where the rattle was on the rear deck lid that the subwoofer is mounted in, BUT, they found it.
They ended up removing everything from the inside rear area including the seat, till they had bare metal.

Found out it was the metal of the decklid vibrating on the window glass.
Used some Honda approved EPT insulation to fix.

I haven't actually taken delivery on it yet but it sounds like they may have figured it out.

I guess a gift certificate to Ruth Chris Steakhouse goes a long way

I appreciate what you're going through, and I don't mean this as sarcasm. I think I would actually rather live with a rattle than let a dealer rip my car apart to the bare metal. Just my opinion. Hope this works for you, though.

Let me know if that stays quite. They tried that on mine and no good, came back in a week or so. They had mine in twice for 4 days. Finally I said screw the damn deck down. They put 3 screws through the deck lip that goes behind the seat so those arene't visible. The tough one was 2 screws right through deck to lower metal rack on either side of the sub. (2.5" #10 sheet metal screws) They had some screw caps that they sprayed to maktch the gray of the back decka nd used those. so I have 2 little screw cap bumps that look liek they belong and a nice quiet deck. They did leave the extra padding in there to help cushion. Evidently the back deck is held in with plastic clips and there is very little clearance to add much padding so screwing down holds it tight at the source. Seems to work great as my deck was buzzing at low volumes, say 8-10 with sub at +4 and BASS at +4 on many different pieces, now I can crank it up and it is quiet. I had demo CD I made that bascially makes the deck buzzz all the time, they lieked it so much they asked me to burn a few copies for them to use to diagnose other TLs as they are now getting more complaints.

Its not that bad, back seat comes out then back deck comes out exposing the metal shelf that holds the rear speakers and sub. They have had mine torn our twice and you woudl never know it, they did a good job.

well I'm not a huge fan of all that coming out either, but if it needs to be done to fix the problem correctly, and/or track it down, whadda I do? I'm the type of guy that has to have things done right, which means if anything gets messed up during the troubleshooting, I will make sure its as new when returned. I've been down this road many times so my inspection will be a close one.

no sarcasm detected by me.....and I totally understand where your coming from!

I hear you guys. I guess my concern would be the kinds of things Norse has experienced - they rip apart the car, stuff some filling somewhere, put everything back together again, and then he finds punctures in the leather, grease all over the upholstery, random clips lying around that presumably should have been put back somewhere, and he still has rattles. That kind of aggravation, for me, would be far less tolerable than just living with the rattle. But I guess if you trust your dealer not to f things up, it's worth a try. Good luck!

TLGator, I really don't trust any dealer yet, that takes time and sustained superior performance.
I've recently taught myself not to borrow trouble, so, if and when they f-up, then I will be upset.
