Smile Third Gen TL Side Skirt Removal

Hello - Does anyone have any instructions on how to remove the side skirts from a 2005 Acura TL? I recently had some puddle lights installed, but I want to pull off the side skirts and space them out a little more. Thanks in advance for the help!

Check the 3G garage

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/diy-spec-body-kit-installation-3g-garage-e-002-a-612659/
There is info in there on how to remove the side skirts

This probably doesn't belong in the Performance sub-forum either.

GOOD LUCK!

There are 3 screws in each fender wall that you have to remove. then there are three fender clips (the self tapping plastic kind) that run along the bottom of the skirt. Remove those.

Once you are done with that pull each end of the sideskirt away from the body of the car (grab it near the wheels and yank) there are three clips that you will have to break free behind the sideskirts.

once that's done slide the front section towards the front of the car not away. do the same for the rear but slide it back again not away.

just yank hard. I was afraid of breaking something at first but once you're frustrated enough you will end up yanking hard enough to pop it free.

hope that helps. Kind of hard to describe without pictures. Definitely check the garage link above if you still can't get it

Hey, thanks a lot. Your directions and the link that Vigor66 gave me went hand in hand. Thanks again.:-)

I don't understand the part where you have to open the door in the link, what is the point of that? Can't you just pull the end side skirts near the wheel well to free the inner clip with the door closed?

It's easier to get two hands wrapped around the end with the door open
