I really like the looks of the TL A-spec and have found a 2005 that has got me thinking. I have a 1994 Legend GS right now with 150k miles and so far so good. I've always thought Honda/Acura built a reliable and solid car. But, I'm a bit concerned after doing some research on these forums. From members on here, it sounds like the TL wasn't build with quality in mind...???

Rattles (A-pillar)
Cracking Dash
Fading Dash
Poor Leather quality
Transmission issues
Head gasket problems

I'm wondering if these problems are somewhat rare or if it is a problem with most all TLs. I'd really like to move forward with the purchase of this A-spec but am very timid. Should I run and go look at other cars?? Please shed some light...

*Also, has acura been good about helping TL owners out with any of these issues outside of warranty? What is the standard warranty?

Those are problems with every TL and some of them are problem with every car for that matter. The transmission problems seem to fixed with the late model 05's I think, so as long as your build on an 05 is after a certain date I think you're safe, someone else will elaborate on that. Other problems are there but they are easy fixes.. so its your call.

Keep in mind, we on these boards are anal retentive car nuts, so we will exaggerate every god dam thing that is wrong with our cars, so it might magnify the severity of the problem more than it really is.

And on another note, comparing an Acura to Lexus.. NO WAY man! LEXUS is light years ahead of ACURA in terms of quality. I have both the RX and the GS on my driveway as well, and those cars are just solid and not an ounce of "petty" problems like I have with the TL. Notice the emphasis on petty, they still have problems just not the petty ones. Rattles are virtually non-existant with those cars.
