thinking of buying ths TL

Seems like a good deal. Opinions?

Found an '04 TL with only 25,000 miles for $18078. Has a clean title, good carfax report, and is in excellent shape, unfortunately no nav. ;-( I can deal with that though. Ill just get a Garmin.

This one is for sale at a Honda Dealer, so I could maybe buy the Acura Care warranty too. Problem here, Original service date is 3/31/08 That means the car has been in service for 4 years and 2 months, Is it even possible to get the Acura Care warranty after 4 years???

Other than the rear bumper paint mismatch, I think the car looks good.

Personally, I would try to find one w/ a Navi.

Yes, you can still buy an extended warranty.

Sounds good but I'd go over the car with a fine-tooth comb just to be sure. In February I traded in an 04 Base on an 08 Nav as a result of lease expiration. It only had 22.5k on it and was in mint condition. They gave me 17k for it and the dealer later sold it for 22k. I'm not complaining though. I got the 08 for the same payment as the 04 and with no money down on a new lease. Can't help with the Acura Care thing. Perhaps someone else will chime in.

I bought pretty much the same car except with navi about a year and a half ago...it also was in excellent shape it had a clean title/carfax and about 22k miles, I got it for about 23k. It has given me now problems what so ever, except for a couple of rattles here and there, but they were fixed under warranty.

Things I love:
-Color combo...RRP is not as common as WDP or SSM, and I love the interior with black, alluminium/wood trim and tan colors.
-Navi
-The Warranty that i still have left...about a month
-A lot more can go into this category

Dislikes:
- Interior shows a lot of dirt
- Seats need to be double stitched/ also stain after prolonged use
- 5th gear drone
- regret not looking for a 6mt / a-spec edition

As some have stated, yes you can get a warranty for this car. I would suggest that you check some of the online offers. There are a few Acura dealerships that post their prices on the web. Use those as a price reference before buying from the local dealership so you can make sure you're getting a decent price.

One of the sites will only do it if your car is less than 48 months old. Since this is a 2004, it would depend on what month it was originally placed in service.

This is an example that I found with a quick google.

Acura Care for Used Vehicles:

If your Acura has more than 6,000 miles and is still within the original manufacturer's warranty, it qualifies for Used Vehicle plans. The coverage is the same as the coverage for New Vehicles. The only difference is that the time and mileage for Used Vehicle plans start on the day that you purchase the plan. In an effort to make this as understandable as possible, the plans shown on the pricing page, show the end date and the end miles. Acura Care for Used Vehicles is available with your choice of either a $100 deductible or a $0 deductible. However, the $0 deductible option is only available for vehicles that are a 2005 or newer.

Longest terms available for various model year/current mileage combinations:

2004 and newer with less than 50k miles ------- 4 years/48k miles

SSM = Satin Silver Metalic... it's a color

Ignore that post. The TL you posted about looks good; not crazy about the color but overall, the car looks solid.

price seems to be decent but I would stay away from the 04s they were the first year of the redesign and they had a few things to work out. Regardless of mileage you are buying a car that is almost 5 years old for 18K.

The one good thing is if you live in an excise tax state you will not pay as much for excise taxes. In massachusetts for example, in the 5th year (which this 04 is in) you pay excise taxes on 10% of the orginal msrp. So the car would be appraised for excise taxes at 3000 or so. So you would pay 75 bucks.

A new one would be about 600 +

aha, the silver color. I cant get one in that color because my wife drives a Silver Honda pilot.

No excise tax here, just 5.6% sales tax and $200 in fee's... I am hoping to get the car with an extended warranty, tax, title, and lisence for $19,750.

have the 04's been troublesome?

Bought mine from Wilde Honda in Waukesha, Wisc. in Nov 2007:

2004 6MT non-Navi... Anthracite Metallic w/ Quartz Interior.... 42k miles... new tires... $19500

Seems like a good deal. Are you sure it hasn't been in an accident? Personally, every time I see that color combo, the selling price seems to be on the lower end (ie not a popular color).

Check the tires. If those are the OEM tires, aren't those subject to premature tread wear because of some rear bumper stop issue? The experts on this site will correct me if I'm wrong.

how did you like Wilde Honda? We bought my wifes Pilot there in April. Got a good deal on the car, after A LOT of negotiating. They seemed really shady, but I got the car I wanted for the price I wanted in the end. I can handle an annoying salesman if I ll eventually get my deal...

I didn't like Wilde Honda at all. If I could go back in time, I would definitely not buy from them and I won't buy from them ever again. Like you said, they seemed really shady.

They tried forever to get me to finance through them despite the fact that I already had financing secure and despite the fact their rate was around 8%! Give me a break!

You may want to take a real good look at the back end of that car... The paint mis-match would indicate that the car has been in an accident... maybe minor...maybe not. Take a good look under the trunk carpet, lights, gaps, underneath, spare tire wheel well etc. I personally wouldn't buy it just because of the mismatch.. but that is me and I am a bit OCD.
