Thinking about tinting my windshield

I want to tint my windshield 35%. Whenever I drive at night I get headaches due to the glare from oncoming headlights....does not help every other car is a freaking ricer with 30k odd colored misaimed headlights.

I can get a note from my eye doctor.

Any of you guys running a tinted windshield? How do the cops treat you? My final question is how is visibility during the night if its raining?

Its illegal in all 50 states. Pretty sure cops see that they will make you remove it. If you ignore the fix it ticket they tow your car. my brother had tinted windshield on his CRX.

i got 35%, im a window tinter and dont recommend going darker then 35% because you will start having issues seeing at night. i did 20% once for a car show and had to take it off on the way home.

cops dont really notice it much, most cops around here dont really know what a tinted windshield looks like. i get more attention for the front driver and passanger windows. most of the cars i do go for the 50% if they decide to get the windshield done.

Not for me. I just don't want the hassle of dealing with the cops. Note or not they are going to pull you over.

Not all states have fix-it tickets. Having lived on both coasts (SC and CA), I've seen my share of fix-it tickets. SC, however, does NOT have fix-it tickets.

@OP- If you already have glasses/contacts/prescription and your doc. is ok with it, go for it . I'd say no more than 50% though, it's darker than you think it is, with your other tint :-D.

^^^This. If you have a note from your doctor the only thing you can do is tint your side and back windows darker than legal. The windshield will get you pulled over again and again!

I use to have the doctors note for my tint but sadly to say, NY no longer will accept the doctors note. It must be stated on your license that you have one of 3 problems in order to put any form of "optic modification" stated. I can't remember what the 3 things are now but I found this out when I went to renew my license last year.

Good luck.

its hard for cops to pin it on you because most of the testers fit over the class. obv you cant lower your windshield. im getting mine done for 100$ in a week or so. im doing 50%

U would pretty much cut out the tint or just tint the whole windshield and place it behind it... U can also see the stickers behind the tint

Well yes 30000k puts out less lumens but that bright ugly blue in halogen headlights really hurts my eyes. Not to mention every lifted trunk seems to have installed HID lights and HID fogs and those are just atrocious. ABP how do you get away with such dark windshield tint? What kind of HIDS do you have? I have 8k lol....not the best not sure how they will look with the windshield tint. And LOL at nascar plates.

I've got 50 on the windshield and I love it. Not too dark to effect nighttime/inclement weather driving, but dark enough to notice, and to help shade from glare.

I had my windshield tinted b4. IMO 35% is too dark...once it gets dark out your going to have a hard time seeing. The car will def look

good but you dont want to jepordize saftey...dark rainy day+ 35% tint good chance you might hit a person (g*d forbid) without seeing
em. I had 50% for about a yr n change...i took it off when one night

i could hardly see anything. Im sure you already know its illegal however, there really is no "vaild" way if you do get a ticket for the cop to prove just how dark your tints are. Dont get me wrong youll still get tickets just if you go to court to fight em depending on your state the cop cant say "i recorded the tint at 25% or 50% b/c their

tint reader need too go over the class (good luck doing that with the winshield). I wouldnt do it again......but thats just me.

Rather than tint your windshield and run the risk of a ticket and as well solve the problem on 1 car, get yourself a pair of yellow night driving glasses like these:

http://www.urbanoptiques.com/eyewear...riving-glasses

TAG Developed those through racing and it def. helps quite a bit. Since it's a TAG product I'd say that particular pair is upwards of 500 dollars, but I'm sure you can find a pair from Oakley or Costa Del Mar or Ray Ban for around 100 dollars. Much cheaper than tint and as well they are good in the day as well.

It's a good looking mod-not worth the lifetime of hassle you'll get from it.

I would never...and I'm in South Florida, I don't like how it looks and the assumption from cops and pedestrians alike is that if you're trying to be that hidden, you're up to no good...

road head or lighting up a doob or planning to crack your window for a driveby.

Yellow optic glasses are a GREAT option...actually...you'll probably make fun of me but blublocker brand has come out with a whole slew of affordable options with all sorts of different lenses. I'm sure they have yellow.

I have had my front windshield tinted on all my cars since i have gotten my license (10 years) and i have had my share of tickets for my side windows but never the front , as mentioned above they couldnt test the front . I have 30 right now , IMO that is the best i have tried them all .

I have the same problem as you and have had notes from the doctor, but if you have trouble seeing at night without it i would go lighter to be safe .

I actually got my front windshield tinted today as a gift for myself. I wanted something clear so I don't stand out. Ended up going Air blue from Llumar as its 80% film and is ceramic so it won't cause interference with my V1.

is it really worth the hassle?
running illegal shit all the time and paying off inspection people is quiet simple BUT cops will harass you on a constant basis

i had my windshield tinted on my old CL;it was a light blue 50%, perfect for that subtle tint and to block some glare.. also it looks stock.kind of like those S-Class Benzes if youve ever seen them> never got bothered for it ,and never hurt my vision at night.

does regular tint interfere with the radar? because i have my v1 on now and was thinking of getting my front tinted too. but i still get a good signal from the back and i have 15% all around

The tint does look good on the front, but I have heard stories of people having to scrape illegal tint off on the side of the road with the cop watching them. (of course, that could be some total bullshit, but I don't want to deal with it.)
