Things you wish the TL had

Too Fast TOO FURIOUS

- Daytime running lights
- Auto folding side mirrors
- SH-AWD
- Push start
- Plays Mp3
- Backup camera
- No auto shift from 1st to 2nd in sport mode
I am very happy with it as it is for the price. as pointed out by others, with all these features, the price could be in the upper 30s. before we got the TL, we looked at Lex - their price turned us away after adding all the features that come standard in TL.

If it is left in the right position the passenger side mirror will tilt down in reverse and vice-versa. If left in the center neither mirror moves down.

LOVE the car, but...
1. MP3 ability
2. fold-down rear seats
3. 18's and full sized spare
4. automatically switching to AUDIO view on engine start, rather than navi
5. included maintenance for life of warranty
6. and something that vaporizes idiots who park next to you and ding your doors
And something that I wish the TL didn't have: dual climate zones - it doesn't make any sense!

Along with what others have posted- I would like to see the TL seats have the option to allow easy entry/exit e.g. seats moving backwards when exiting.

What would have kept me in a TL:
SH-AWD
iPod/mp3 port
...and I sure would have loved a full-size spare on my last cross-country trip.

-Higher quality leather seats/dash
-More adjustments for the passenger seat
-A more distinct exhaust tone
-3.5L standard, 3.7L for the Type-S
-RWD!
-Quad tips
-Better brakes (slotted up front maybe?)

Dual settings are also good if you're stuck in traffic and the sun is beating on one side of the car. It seems like any time I go somewhere in a suit (e.g. wedding, funeral, job interview) that happens. (Actually the NAVI system's compass is supposed to compensate for that.)
But since most cars in traffic seem to only have the driver, it does seem like overkill. And I wonder if it's more efficient to heat or cool just 1/2 of the car or the whole car.
Having said all that, I leave my system in regular (not DUAL) mode most of the time, so it's all one temp.

As for the auto-folding side mirrors, at least they move somewhat if they hit an obstruction. I've driven cars where they don't do anything other than crack-off. At $150-$200 a pop, that gets old really fast! But auto-folding would be great for shopping centers, tight garages etc.

How about retained accessory power, and a 12V in the trunk? That way, I can plug in a compressor and add air to the tires without leaving the key in the ignition and running the wire from the dash or the armrest across the seats.
(As it is, when I try to compare the TPMS air-pressure display to my own gauge, the MID says "Door Open" instead of the pressure. So I have to run the 12V cord thru an open window, with the door shut.)

Not a must have- but how about a power "closing" trunk?

1. RWD
2. push button start/shut-off
3. 18'' wheel and tire combo from the factory
4. Canadian TL has no fog lights/ or XM, whats up with that.
None more important is to get this in RWD. I think 2009 this vehicle will be AWD. I might unload my 05 TL 6MT w/ Navi then. But I won't go for FWD at that time.

RWD!! I'll settle for SH-AWD, but I'd much rather save the weight and just power the correct wheels. Given the way Honda goes with mass-produced vehicles (transverse-mounted engines, platform sharing with the FWD Accord, etc.), I would be remarkably surprised if they actually did RWD. My gut says Acura will be all SH-AWD by the time the '09 TL arrives at the dealers.
Auto Up/Down on all 4 windows - how much is that, $100/window? In fact, one button that would open/close all 4 windows and the roof would be outstanding.
Heavier steering at high speeds. I have Z-rated sticky tires on my 6MT, and it's still too floaty for a "sports" sedan. I haven't driven a TL-S, but it sounds like that was fixed.
That's about it. For the price, I think I got more than I paid for. Thanks, Acura!

As for Auto Up-Down on the rear-windows, I doubt you'll see a switch for that on the Acuras anytime soon. (I believe Nissan might have it on the Maxima.) Somewhere a kid in the back seat will get hurt after he pressed it with his hand out the window and someone will sue faster than you can say "Hot Coffee at McDonalds Drive-Thru" .
In the meantime, if you need to get all the windows closed, you can go outside the car and turn-and-hold the key in the door (toward lock) and all 4 windows and sunroof will shut. Not very useful if you're already driving, though!
Floaty? At what speeds? Maybe if I drove higher-performance cars than the TL I'd have a better standard of comparison. For now, it beats some of the larger GM and Ford luxo-liners I've had the experience of driving, which start to loosen up around 60 mph. But I am a fan of heavier steering -- if they make the TL tighter I wouldn't complain. (Some of the literature suggests that for 07, the regular suspension was softened while the TL-S was tightened. Haven't had a chance to find out first-hand yet.)
Definitely a great car for the money.

1) SD Flash card reader (for MP3 songs and Navigation destinations/driving instructions)
2) Auto Up/Down rear windows
3) Improved trip computer (instantaneous MPG, more programmability for settings)
4) Improved Stability/ABS/Traction Control system that detects and corrects tire slipage problems with higher frequency and with greater granularity
5) Improved clutch feel
6) Direct fuel injection (not port injection)
7) Timing chain
8) weight 10-20% less

To be fair, I think I've discovered the problem. I can't find a shady place to park, so the car sits in the sun. Even with tinted windows and a windshield sun screen, the inside of the car gets so friggin hot you can't believe it. I honestly believe the duct work gets so hot it takes a long time to cool it off in order to get cool air to the cabin. The hot ducting just soaks up all the cool air. It's about a 30 minute drive home. About 10 minutes from home, it started blowing some decently cool air. If I park it in my garage, I don't have this problem. The inside of my garage can see 110 degrees frequently. Even that hot, the a/c blows cool air quickly. I'm just about sure it's the overheating of the interior of the car that's doing it. I need to find some shade!!
With the 120 degree heat, does anyone ever try using a car cover? I'd think it could reflect a lot of the heat off the car. On the other hand. would the rubber or glue melt onto the car? And it would probably burn your hands to take it off the car. Just wondering if anyone ever does that.

Actually, the windows and the moonroof in our cars automatically open if they encounter any object in it path.
