The Things I Do For This Car....
I got my 2001 CL-S when I was 16. I've been making car payments since then until recently when I quit my job. Now that I'm starting a new one this week, I'm taking back all of the financial responsibilities that luckily my parents took over for a while.
Do I regret going out and buying a new car a such? Yes. Would I consider giving it up? Not unless it was the only option I had. Right now I'm more worried about getting a house than anything.
OP it sounds like you have some good plans for the car and you aren't going too crazy with mods. Enjoy the TL and keep saving!

*High 5* for the financial independence! I've graduated from high school in 2003 and it's sad to say I still have friends that don't work, don't go to school, and one friend that doesn't even DRIVE. sad story, i know. and damn ANC297! someone at your school has an IS-F? spooooiled. LOL
Yeah, I know. I can put a pic up if you dont believe me. l0l. That's Boca Raton for ya! Just to list a few, in the student parking lot there is a z4, is-f, multiple is's and bmw 3 series, chargers, challengers, audis, a crazy g8 and a lottt more....
And I gotta say, they might have a nicer, newer car, but at the same time I earned mine myself and I feel better about that then any of those kids who are living off of their parents dime.

Thats a helluva schedule man....I'm pretty young myself and the only thing I would add is enjoy being young...don't let working for a object dicate your ability to do things you enjoy.
Hopefully we'll see some mods soon

Looks like he got a 2006 TL, so I highly doubt his parents alone gave him the cash for it.
Most likely he received money from several family members for graduation and had some in the bank and just chucked it at a $15k TL.
Even if his parents did lob the cash at him, there's still a huge difference between a brand new $35k car and one that is 4 years old already that probably cost him somewhere between 15 and 18k.
@ the OP - be sure you do any necessary maintenance on the car prior to sinking money into mods! Don't know what kind of mileage you have on that thing but the 3G garage has a lot of good DIY articles on some very useful maintenance items to keep your car running ship-shape.

Keep up the good work bro. I'm about in the same boat. I bought my 07 TL-S last year cash. Yea I know, hard to believe ehh, I got it for a really good price.. I pay for all my own bills. Iphone/car ins/gas/school etc. And I go to school full time. I work part time at a hospital. Hopefully starting pharmacy school next year.
18 and driving a TL? Damn, times are changing.
All right people, I commend his "financial independency" but don't break your arm patting him on the back... Living at home? Who pays your cell bill, gas bill, power bill, dtv bill, water bill, whose computer are you on??? If you do then I apologize and congratulations. If you don't, that just means you spend all of your money maintaining, insuring, and gassing up a car way out of your pay grade. Don't get me wrong, I applaud you for somewhat affording a TL but kids your age should be driving a civic and saving for college or chipping in for the parents mortgage. I'm not saying... I'm just saying.

Well to address the car payment thing, my dad was in a bad car accident 7 years ago and he broke his neck, he is ok now but he went through years of operations and being down for months, I took care of the house, the dogs, the cooking, cleaning.... everything. Now he won a lawsuit against the asshole who ran a stop sign and won a significant amount of money. So as a grad/thank you gift I got a car, he appreciates that I took lots of responsibility's that kids that age normally dont have to deal with. I got the car with 20,000 miles on it, certified used for about 21,000$ I love the car I baby the hell outta it, and second off its not my first car. My first car was a 1995 Chevy Blazer that I bought myself and got running myself, I spend a few grand getting it running and I loved it, I still do, I still have it I cant bring myself to sell her. So theres the story, Dad bought me my car, I understand life, and money, and responsibility, I graduate this year, spend 2 years in criminal justice and then two more years in police science, soon after I plan on going into the local police force and eventually into the Pennsylvania State Police. My ultimate goal in life is to join the dea, but thats a long shot.
Wow sorry to hear about your dad, I don't wish that on anybody. I'm glad he's better and that he won the lawsuit. My mom was injured on a boat a few years back and she barely got shit.
Good luck finishing up school and all of that!
