Is there a way to verify that the 105k service was done?
I bought a beautiful DGP 2004 6MT with 120K miles a few months ago, but it didn't come with maintenance records. The car looks to have been well cared for, but I know the 105k service is a biggie and I don't want to just assume it was done.
Is there a way to tell if the 105k was done and done right, either by contacting Acura (do they keep records by VIN?) or by looking at the car itself?

I guess I can look at the accessory drive belt and a couple plugs, and see if they look like they have 20,000 miles on them or 125,000...I suppose if I can't verify it then I'll go ahead and do it as if it hadn't been done.

Carfax is only good with information provided to them. Even tho I have all the service done by acura dealers in NC or PA none of it shows up on Carfax. The service I get done at one dealer does not show up on the other dealer récords. The only things that Both dealers have is warranty work and recalls.

i bought my 04 6MT 6 months ago and all the service was done by the owner in his garage so there where now records, but he did write everything down on the maintenance book and showed records of receipts. i took his word because the guy was convincing didnt bs, plus the car was well takin care of to say the least. i know its was a risk but after seeing his garage i was convinced this dude was no bullsh!ter.

It's kind of hard to tell for an untrained eye but I look at the drivebelt and see if it's dried up and brown or weathercracked. Then I look at the bolts at the timing cover. Some times you can tell if a socket has been used on it or some times even a bolt can be missing. Then I look at the side motor mount bolts to see if it's been taken off.
This isn't a 100% for sure thing but that's what I look for before recommending a timing belt.
