Is there a market for crashed TL's?

Dealing with insurance right now on my damaged TL. It is repairable and not salvaged. Just wondering if people would actually pick it up, or if I should just get it fixed at a body shop. BTW; it's a 2005, navigation, automatic, 60k miles..the body shop quoted around 6 grand in parts, but they probably inflated that figure.

Other than salvage yards, there not going to be any real market for a wrecked TL.

FML, not even for like 7-8 grand? Everything but the front end is pretty much immaculate.

=/ so everything but the important bit...

only demand I could see for crashed TL's would be the engine and such.

There is always a market for a crashed car, if the price is right. With a market price of let's say $16k and damage estimate at $6k, no reason why one couldn't sell the car for around $6K, providing that the estimate is correct.

Don't know why you would think about this route, get it fixed, then sell the car, especially if not a salvage title.

How come you don't want to just repair it and then sell it?

I'm gonna have the body shop send pictures...I think this would appeal to somebody who can do their own body work or who knows somebody with a hookup. I don't have many pics, but i'll put one up after i crashed, and after taking it apart.

Here's the story:

The body shop quoted a ridiculously high amount to fix it..they are a 'trusted' body shop by my insurance so they didn't even bother sending an adjuster. Instead of having that body shop fix it, i just requested a check from the insurance, and i want to sell the car as is...this is not a forsale thread, i was just wondering if there was a market.

Can't see the pictures, but if you received a check for a ridiculously high repair amount and want to sell the car, reading between the lines, I would say that you want to make money on the deal. Need to see pictures of the damage because a front end collision of any magnitude isn't a cheap fix, even if one were to get a used nose assembly.
Why not post the repair estimate?

Take the car to another body shop and use the " ridiculously high amount" that the insurance Co. gave you to fix it. This way you make some money and get to keep the car.

It's harder to sell a crashed car than a nice driver

Fix it and sell it. I've been making money on salvage cars like this since I was 16 years old. There are always people interested if the repairs are done right and the price is right.

My TL cost me $14000 when similar TLs were about $27000 at the dealer. Salvage history but a clean title drives like a dream!

Salvage or mint TLs will sell if the price is right. Don't expect to find an easy buyer if priced >$12,000. If your realistic, a good price to sell an 05 TL after a major hit would be <10k.
When I was in the buying market 4 months ago, most clean 05 TLs were around 17K. Took me 2 months and found a mint 05 clean TL for 13.5K. At the same time, there was on 06 TL salvage, 50,000 miles with navi asking 12.5K. I never bother to test drive it because owner wanted 12.5K. If owner was willing to well at 10K, I would have least drove 1 hour to take a look.
Price your TL well and it will sell.

This thread has run its course. OP- I believe you have more than enough info to make an informed decision on what to do at this point. If the thread keeps going, it will violate the Black Market rules. Thanks
