Thumbs down is there anything about your tl that bothers you?

EDIT: PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS POST AS HATE TOWARDS THE TL AND BEGIN FLAMING WARS WITH ME, I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF THERE ARE CETAIN THINGS ABOUT IT THAT BOTHERS YOU.

-center console is too fat that it hurt my right knee when i lay it to the side of the console
-driver seat leather is cracking from coming in and out of the car
-seatbelt scratches the pillar between the front and rear door
-seatbelt dented the silver trim along the center console when i buckle up (i dont look for the buckle when i put on my seat belt which is why i dented it, but i do now because of this)
-aluminum grill gets fingerprints and takes too much time to clean
-shape of the exhaust tips and exhaust cutouts (but the look is growing on me)

Dude, quit complaining. Seriously the only thing I dislike is the dam navigation acceptance screen.

Amen about the fingerprints on the satin trim. Everbody wants to touch the stuff for some reason. I'm having a heck of a time keeping it clean. You should have seen it after I took to dealer for adjustments. CSI would have had a field day. Could have solved several crimes in Indy with all the fingerprints I had on the hood trim.

What dealership? Ed Martin? Hubler? Just curious as they weren't willing to deal with me at all.

How big is that first guy? Maybe he needs a full sized truck? Only thing I don't like is that the door locks are right where I want to rest my elbow.

Torque steer (or perhaps it's the VSA kicking in?). It's slight, but I don't like it.

And given the shape of the doors, on a misty day with the window down, water collects at the top and drips down inside the door since the bottom of the windowsill is further out than the top.

My complaints....

1. VIBRATES. My only big complaint.

2. Trunk could be a little bigger, but this is very minor.

3. Alternator noise when cold, could be from Armor All, the detailer sprayed it all over the engine the day I bought it.

4. Higher capacity gas tank, they call it 17 I call it 14 real usable gallons, if yer gonna claim 17, let me use 17, small complaint though.

5. My list of what I love about it far out weighs the negatives.

Re: is there anything you hate about your tl?

heres mine:
-center console is too fat that it hurt my right knee when i lay it to the side of the console

I've never heard that one before. Try not doind that to avoid the discomfort

-driver seat leather is cracking from coming in and out of the car

What you refer to as "cracking" is not actual cracking at all, unless you can see through the leather to the material underneath. Leather naturally looks like that once it gets broken in.

-seatbelt dented the silver trim along the center console when i buckle up (i dont look for the buckle when i put on my seat belt which is way it dented it, but i do now because of this)

Seems like something that could be avoided with more care on your part. Any car would be subject to wear based on your habit of blindly inserting the seat belt.

-aluminum grill gets fingerprints and takes too much time to clean

:lol2: Come on, give us a break with this one. This is something you "HATE" about the TL

-shape of the exhaust tips and exhaust cutouts (but the look is growing on me)

Just a matter of taste. You can't please everyone with a perfect design because one does not exist.

It sounds to me like you are looking to nit pick, which is your right, but to say you "HATE" these things is going a little over the top.

The bottom line for me is that while I might prefer a few things to be different, or dislike something, but it is far from hating anything about my TL

Re: is there anything you hate about your tl?

Another squawk thread?

I made tons of complaint prior to making a dicision of having my 04TL. After that point, I have no right to complain except the defective issues.

SORRY, didnt mean to piss you guys off, i just wanted to know if there was anything about the TL that bothers you, i shouldve used a word other than 'hate'.

in response to z factor, i know i can be more careful with all these problems. but im bothered by all the prints on the aluminum grill so much that im having it colormatch to make cleaning easier, before i had to put pressure on it to wipe it off.

PS: i edited my first post

yeah my gripe. how could TLs not have a low washer-fluid indicator. Such a basic feature especially needed on the east coast. i had thought the pipes froze when it ran out initially.

I hate that it doesn't include a self gratification device for those long, lonely drives out in the country. In addition , it doesn't cook or do laundry. Damn it, it cannot completely replace the wife!!!!

Don`t get down on him. He`s got a fairly good discussion point. How about a better tire jack. I know, had a tire with a 4" nail in it:wow:

you can use 17....I have used over 16 gallons, only drawback you have to drive about 60 miles after the low gas light comes on.

Overall, the TL is a GREAT car. My biggest complaint is that the car rattles and creaks like a 10 year old Chevy. Much of it is in the area around the radio so "felt tape" won't help much. Dealer so far has been unhelpful. Some other things on my wish list:

1) I wish the shift from 1st to 2nd wasn't "automatic".

2) I wish the name of the XM stations would get cached and displayed immediately when flipping through the dial quickly.

3) I wish the blue lighting around the gauges could be dimmed independently of the numbers and needles.

Other than that, I love it.

No problem, just a poor choice of words.

I look beyond the minor things and am thankful that I spent my money wisely on the best sports sedan in it's class.

The only real complaint, and I bought the car even after seeing this, is that the trunk can only hold two full sets of golf clubs. Hard to go out of town on a golf outing with buds. But then again, maybe it's a blessing in disguise in that I don't have to worry about someone spilling their drink in the back seat.

I guess I could also complain about the numerous questions I get at the gas station, or the speed which I find my self when passing, or stupid grin on my face behind the wheel, or.......

I thought Acura claimed that the trunk could hold 4 golf bags in an effort to prove that their trunk wasn't really _that_ small.

While there are a lot of things that Acura SHOULD have included, there are only 2 things that piss me off every day -

1. The key is in the wheel instead of the dash like it was in my Solara. The dangling keyless fob jams into my knee nearly EVERY time I use the brake. It is really annoying! The keyless SHOULD have been in the key like it is in the cheaper Honda!

2. The Homelink buttons SHOULD have been rubber so you can reach up and push it by feel without taking your eyes off the road. The smooth plastic buttons are too hard to discern quickly.

Other than that, no extreme dislikes, and LOTS of likes!

I noticed though in reading the manual that the Canadian version of the TL DOES have the lot washer-fluid indicator which alerts you in the MID. I agree, regarding the east coast comment.

My complaint is:

Can not use fog lights without having main lights on...

Having to always hit the button to get the trip information up each time I get in the car... Put up on the MID what I left there prior to turning off the car!!

The brake dust!! 800 miles and they are pretty black... I am sure that I will have to replace the pads quickly.

The computer saying you have ZERO miles when we all know you have about 40 left.

But, this is the best car I have every owned!!
