Thanks Acura :(

... For not letting people under the age of 25 whom buy an Acura get a loaner Acura.. That makes sense right? Buy an Acura.. goes in for service.. you get an Acura as a loaner.. unless you're under the age of 25; in which case you get a shitty Dodge Charger powered by an overwhelmed 2.7 liter V6 and handles like a tuna boat, coupled to a high tech 4 speed automatic that doesn't know what the hell to do, and a speedometer that occasionally drops down from 70 to 10 mph then back up with 2700 miles on the odo.

Hi.. atleast my car is getting fixed hehe

another complaint.
yea, they have some crap cars.
they gave my friend a beat up taurus when his tranny went out
I've heard some dealerships have acura loaners though.
they should lend better cars to make you want to buy one.
an nsx would be nice.

Rental car companies usually charge people under the age of 25 a bit more then they would people 25 and over. I think that rule is pretty ridiculous. They are pretty much saying you can't take care of your own. When you're 18, you're a legal adult. When you're 21, you're mature enough to buy liquor. But you have to be 25 to rent a car.

My dealership says once I hit 21 anytime I go in for service I'll get another TL-S ready as a loaner. Something more to look forward turning 21 ahahhaha

Dealership is SANTA MONICA ACURA

That's weird. I always got a TSX when I brought my '03 TL in for service for the past two years. I just turned 25 this year too. I guess it depends on the dealer.

My dealer (Acura of Memphis [TN]) has you meet one of two requirements:

1) Name on deed
2) Age > 25

Yeah.. the dealership said it's Acuras policy, not theirs.. they're paying for my rental so that's good, but I had to go to an Enterprise rental place and got lost for an hour cause I had never been there =p

I understand their position; but it's not like im giving them a friggin 89 hyundai excel and asking for an Acura as a loaner..

She should be back tomorrow though

I know that in CA you need to be 21 to rent cars, 25 is a pretty arbitrary number where'd you get that from?

In CT the dealer says you need to be of twenty-one years of age or more to rent a car. Also they try as much as possible to not shell out loaners, they'll say things like the car will need to be worked on a minimum 24hrs to give a loaner.

That's so lame. Last time, I REALLY needed a loaner so I actually ended up canceling and reschedualing an appointment.

guess it's based on state laws? I didn't know Acura had any say about how a dealer handles it's loaners...

Same thing when you rent a car..

There are only one or two companies who will do it,,,

Basically it cost them more to insure you since you are more inclined to wreck the car.. That is how it is, but i think it does depend on the state too,,,

Yep. Like it not, the statistics say persons under 25 years of age (especially males) are MUCH more likely to be in an accident. So blame your peers (and any of us oldsters who wrecked under the age of 25), not Acura.

You dont have to be 25 to rent a car..... you just have to be 25 to rent a car without paying a underage surcharge.

The 25 age requirement more than likely has to do with the Dealership's insurance policies on their vehicles.

, at least in So Cali. Some rental places won't even let you rent until you're 25. Good thing it doesn't affect me anymore.

At least you get a loaner. Mine wont give me a loaner or even drop me back off at my house which is like literally 7 minutes from the dealer. I have to wait there to get service done, or bring someone 25 or older which is really hard because my schedule doesnt fit with anyones lol

While we are on the topics of loaners... Anyone in jersey know of where I can get a TL-S or RDX as a loaner? I'm dropping my car off on monday evening to have some system messages reviewed/deleted and since I have a TL-S I don't want to be stuck with a damn tsx. Precision told me all they carry is tsx loaners

take what you can get, but in MN the 25 yr old rule seems to take place at the Brooklyn Park store. Even stated on there invoice / paperwork.

I just have my paps drop it off get the loaner car etc.

well in NYC if you have insurance from your car and you are getting a rental because your car is in service and you wreck that car, your insurance will pay for that car... of course you premium will go up... but there is also the optional insurance which is like a few dollars a day, NYC I rented a toyota when my 350z was in for service (since they don't give loaners at nissan) and I bought the damn insurance for nothing cuz I didn't do anything to it...

ps. it kind of sucks they wont lend you a car... (manhattan acura) dropped me off at work when I was getting lojack put in

its a per dealer situation it depends on their policies.... I was 21 when i got my first acura and none of the dealers in NY had problems giving me loaners as long as i presented insurance and a valid license.

Oh to be that young again!!!

I'd give my left nut to have that problem (Wanna trade? My loaners for your age?)

Hey at least they are covering you with another loaner at no cost. So if you look at the letter of the agreement, they are keeping up their end. Could be worse.

i said this happened to me a couple of weeks ago and everyone said i was bullshitting, the reason the sales guy rep gave me was that the dealership doesnt own their loaner cars, so some dealerships follow this and some dont

the two or three times that i have gone in there i have gotten a civic,

Not saying your making fun of me or hatin or something but just to let people know, I work hard for what I get. I dont get a brand new car just because my parents spoil me, like some people, I run a million dollar gas station where I do all the work and everything without help. I then give the profits to my father and he gives me what ever I ask for.

It just sucks that Im a really mature 18 year old that can handle a TL, yet the dealer wont give me one just because of other 18 year olds that have ruined it for me. All I ask for is any loaner but they wont give me one. Audi gave me a loaner when I took it in for normal service.

I'm 23 and DCH Montclair won't let me get a loaner. Now I'm stuck scheduling an oil change only on Saturdays early in the morning and sitting there waiting for what seem like eternities end to end.

Do you really need a loaner for 1 hr? I always take mine into the dealer and had to wait no longer then an hr to get my oil changed. My dealer has a lounge with a t.v, so I just hang out and watch t.v. I guess if they didn't have that, I would be pretty bored. I would probably ask to go test drive other cars just for fun.

I'd like to be able to service my car anytime during the week, ie. drop it off in the morning and pick it up after work. Saturday availability is limited if at all.
