Anyone notice how bad these factory paint jobs are on the 2004 TL. I've checked out quite a few in many colors. A lot of orange peel. Shows up much worse on darker colors, but gosh SUB-STANDARD. I think they need to tweak the robots or something.

 

No problem here. Only thing I notice is stains from dirt near the wheel wells. I think that small brush that goes in little circles for the bottom of cars at the car wash got rid of that today though.

 

Mine is ok as well, you can do a lot of great things with some polish if yours is in need

I just picked up my nighthawk/ebony, 6mt, with Navi last week and I had a little bit of this issue. I was rinsing the car off, just some dust, and I used a chamois to dry it off. I noticed that as I dried off the exterior at the spots where the bottom of the door ends and the underbody meet, I got some dark blue/black residue coming off. I looked at the paint after drying and I didn't notice any fading or dullness so maybe it was just excess? Kind of worrisome, but otherwise I couldn't be happier with the purchase.
