Tein SS - Chicago Recommendations
Tein SS - Chicago Recommendations
Guys, I need some of your recommendations. Where can I go in the Chicago area to get a set of Tein SS coilovers installed? Please only provide places where you were completely happy. I am willing to pay extra $$$ to ensure it is done right.
On a side note, been having problems with rubbing.
I have done plenty of searches on here most of which point to the screws that hold on the A-Spec kit. I am far from an expert but believe this is not such the case with mine. I will typically get the worst rubbing when I hit a dip in the road, kinda as if it is hitting the top inside part of the wheel well. Here is the set-up I have:
I am on stock suspension, 20" x 8.5" with a 38 offset on 245/35/20 tires. Last summer I had 19" x 8.5" with a 45 offset on 245/35/19 tires with no rubbing at all.
Any recommendations? I was hoping that the Tein coilovers will tighten up the suspension and help with the rubbing issues or am I way off in my logic?

I'm thinking about going with a stiffer spring rate in front on my SS's. At the height I was running, I kept bottoming out (no rubbing on stock 17's). Stiffer spring rate up front will definitely help your situation. I think the SS's typically come with a rate of 12. I might order a set of 14s for the front. Any more than 2 steps up or down will require shocks to be revalved.
I think it might help your situation, but might not cure it. Alternatives would be to either cut the fender wells where it's rubbing, or step back down to the 19s.

I have had work done by GRD in Naperville, IL (35 miles west of Chicago) and have been pleased with their work.
