Technical probs on my TL

Hey folks, I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing these problems:

1. Driver side mirror no longer angels down when backing up . (I really like this feature)

2. The auto display setting for Nav isn't doing anything auto, it just stays on the day setting.

Anyone else having these problems?

only one of the windows angles down in reverse. if at least one of them isn't tilting downwards, look at your mirror control switch. it's on the left side of the steering wheel. there's a little left to right sliding switch which allows you to adjust either the left or right mirror. flip the switch to either the left (to tilt left mirror) or to the right (to tilt right mirror). if you leave it in the center, neither mirror will tilt down in reverse.

as for your 2nd question, i'm not really familiar with this auto setting. anybody else wanna chime in and enlight both of us?

hope this solves your problem bro.

For you 2nd question, try to adjust your instrument contrast level to lower than max setting.

After using the search function a bit better, I found lots of articles for the mirror problem, so I'm going to go through those.

The auto setting for the display is for the Navs only I believe. It will change the brightness and contract of the display for night driving automatically, based if the headlight are on. I haven't search yet to see if others have had this problem or not yet.

Thanks!

Are you familiar with the term RTFM?

Seriously...

1. Depends where your mirror switch setting is. If it's in the center, nothing happens in reverse. The mirror that's selected is the one that drops in reverse.

2. If your NAVI Brightness is at MAX, it won't change.

It's all in the owners manual.

I take it your technical problems have now resolved themselves due to flipping the Id-10-T switch?

In your opinion... and it was a half hearted joke.

New member or not, weeding through the chaff of all the questions that are answered in the owners manual or the 3G Garage get annoying to us all.

Lighten up and let this thread die.

Actually, the Auto dimming still doesn't work even after turning it down. But thanks for being a dick.

As far as reading the manual, I have better things to do than read a car manual, so I let dipshits like you do it for me.

Id-10-T, how cute.

I see no "half hearted joke" in any of this. Plus, other, more polite, posters beat you to the answer.

You came off like an as*, plain and simple.

RedBaron, welcome to the forum and ask as many questions as you want. However, you might save yourself some time and grief by checking out the 3rd Gen Garage Sticky at the top of the page. It's got great insight and info.

You guys have absolutely no sense of humor...

Lighten up, it's the internet.

I can see you're going to make a fine addition to the forum...
Apparently, clogging the Acurazine bandwidth asking dumb questions is "what you have better to do".

Glad to have another guy like you we are...

There are two things to try. First, make sure the Navi is set to "Auto." Then check your instrument pod brightness (speedometer, etc.). If you have the brightness there set to the max level, the Navi will default to day mode even if you have it set to "Auto." Set the instrument brightness one click below the max level and your problem should be solved.

For future reference, the "MAX" button for the instument pod acts as a toggle switch. It's useful for situations when you use your headlights when it's bright outside, such as on a rainy day or on a rural two-lane road, because it lets you turn on your headlights but override the "night" setting on the Navi without messing with your normal brightness settings.

@ this thread.

The best part is that you guys are in your 30's. Don't you do enough bickering as it is with your wives?

OK, that's what the mistake was. I thought we were talking about the Max brightness setting on the Navi screen which is set by entering setup.

I'll give the interior brightness dial a try.

Thanks for the help.

OK, you're right, I should have done the research, and I'm not here to flame others, so we'll leave it at that.
