tan interior owners - any regrets? Paint quality...

obviously there are some drawbacks with the tan interior as it can show more wear especially on the floor mats - any owners regret going with the tan interior? also, what is the paint quality like on the 04+ TLs I know honda/acura as been pretty bad in the past with their clear coats and fading... the TL im looking at purchasing is black - nighthawk black pearl i believe... any owners of black TLs have issues with the paint aside from the reg maintenance of owning a black car?

thanks!

Taupe here and I hate it. I have ASM so, of course, I'm going with a silver/black setup with CF accents. Exterior is coming along but the interior throws the whole thing out of whack. I also have long legs and clunky feet so black shoes are out because I'm always marking up the door runner trim and the door panel near the map holder. Definitely bet on black

I was looking for a 6 speed TL i found one black beautyfull but the interiors was camel it have decoloration on the front seats plus stains in the carpets, seats, and in other places, so i buy a 2004 SSM with black interiors only regret is that is aut. right now have 60k miles interiors look like new. I used to have a accord with beige interiors, and i will never buy another car with light color interior, to much work to keep them clean.

as a owner of a TL with the black interior i will admit the tan looks better when new. To bad it doesnt stay that way, the leather does not hold up well and the tan seats look awful after a couple years of use. Black tends to hide it better.

I love my tan interior, everyone always compliments on it. I think it looks very elegant yeah it does show the wear a little more but it's a perfect combo with NBP exterior

I love my WDP/Parchment interior! If I had any other color TL I would want Ebony interior though

Cleaning is the same as any other color interior. I had Ebony interior in my 01 CL-S and I don't notice a difference between cleaning that and my current interior in my 04 TL.

I've had 3 TL's now (2k, 04, 08) with tan interiors and WDP exteriors. I love the look of tan but I dislike the fact that it gets so dirty and is so hard to take care of. I actually looked for Ebony this last go-around but couldn't find one. I have a year left on my current lease and will probably look for a different color (and maybe different brand) of car if Acura doesn't modify the 4g's look somehow.

My SSM had tan interior and what I did to really create a gorgeous contrast was replace the tan floormats with black stock carpet floormats.. WOW, looked amazing .. black dash, tan centre area/seats, black floormats.

NOW.. my wdp is all black interior.. while i like it, i miss the 'brightness' of the tan.. but its alllll good.

I have owned both the 2007 tan interior and now 2007 Type S taupe interior. They both look awesome!!

The 07 Taupe TL-S interior is the hottest interior you can get on the TL (I think anyway) haha no but seriously you cant go wrong with any of them its gonna look amazing no matter what color. The seats will get dirtier the lighter they are, but if your like me and are super anal they can look new all the time.

You could try for the rare and elusive "quartz" gray interior.

I hate the taupe color. If I wear jeans enough the blue dye would rub onto the seat. The leather is taking a beating and it doesnt clean up well. Ugh.

I actually registered today to ask this specific question, glad to see my concerns aren't baseless. I LOVE the look of the tan interiors, but look at some of the higher-mileage cars the seats look, quite frankly, ugly and terrible. Even when the rest of the car looks nice, it just seems like the tan seats do not hold up, get sun-faded easily, and have fading in the seat.

Were these newer jeans? Jeans are pretty much the only thing I wear and it would definitely be a shame to get a blue butt-mark in my seats.

Newer jeans tend to accelerate the problem because they havent been washed much and the dye is still pretty concentrated. You'll see fading moreso on the edge of the seats where your legs are moreso than on your butt. I havent had the problem as much now because Im wearing Khaki or dress pants more.

Yep, that's why I was asking. If the dye was coming off from a well used pair of jeans, I'd have worries. If it were a brand new pair of jeans, I'd feel better.

This is all rather unfortunate though. I absolutely love the camel interior and find the black/grey dull and boring, but looking at all the TL's on the market, the black definitely keeps up better over time.

Now I'm torn.

My sisters 04 ABP TL has the Camel interior and if you don't keep up on cleaning the leather, it'll look disgusting after a while. IMO, Ebony best fits the TL. Sporty and has carbon fiber trim rather than the faux wood.

I smoke, eat and drink in my car. i use it all the weather, in and out of the car 10-20x a day.... My Ebony Inteior always looks fresh.... of course it does need maintaining as well

Amen. Tan looks nice and luxurious, but winters where snow is involved turns cars to complete crap. Inside and out.

Personally, Tan isn't too bad. I don't think it looks terrible. The way i see it is lighter colors to me seem much more luxurious looking but i will agree that black on black is very sexy.

I'm not really sure if mine is exactly tan or whatever but i dont regret getting it...sometimes though i wish i had black to look sexier but I love mine the way it is <3 plus my tint is decently dark so its harder to see the interior at night

And yeah its a pain to take care of cause it gets dirty really easily =\...floormats ftw. o

^ camel.. aka dirt magnet.

I have an ABP TL & the camel matches it perfectly.. I just hate cleaning it every other week. It gets pretty horrible dirt marks everywhere and it doesn't help that I haul around the dogs a lot.

it was sooo hard for me to find a WDP TL with 6 speed, so when I finally found one, I jumped on it... BUT, it came with the tan interior and wood grain =( It was nice when it was clean, but after loaning the car to someone whose kids spilt drinks and wrote on the seats, I'm in the middle of converting the interior to black. I'm trying to do a contrast combo, keeping the tan door panels and some of the interior panels. will see how it goes...

Evidently some peeps are really hard on interiors but my camel looks great after 54K miles. The previous owner must have been very anal so good for me I have had 2 previous cars with a tan interior and never had any problems. Personally I think it does look more luxurious and rich but the black interior is still the tits.

Luxury sedan ≠ sports sedan.

I love the camel interior- my sis has it in her ABP TL, but the faux orange/maple wood trim doesn't match the TL's personality at all. IMO.

to each is his own I think CF belongs in a civic.

and yes a TL is a " midsize luxury sport sedan"

I just bought a RRP with Tan/Taupe? interior. It's that light tan color. I like it, but I am afraid that it is going to get dirty really quick. The previous owner has taken good care of it. Most I have seen have a lot of cracking and discoloration in the drivers seat. This pic above is sweet, I like the two tone. Is it custom?

I had my choice--I just didn't feel the ebony and CF. It felt cold and off-putting. The next car in the row had the camel interior, and it felt right. Yes, it takes a little more maintenance, and the door sills and kick panels get black marks, but you can scrub them off. I don't understand why anyone with any color interior is still using the carpet mats. The all-weather mats look good, are tough, and don't stain. I question whether the ebony interior is better at hiding dirt. My wife has a black on black CR-V and 20 minutes after detailing the interior it looks like crap again.
