Red face Talk me out of it, TL-S to STi

going to trade the TL in tonight for an '11 STi. nervous to take a step back in luxury but excited to get back to raw performance.

I miss my Suby somewhat, I always wonder now what it would have rode like on coilovers instead of just springs, but I guess I'll never know now. Good luck with your purchase.

love the TL and its been a great car. I've honestly just wanted to get back into a more performance oriented car rather than a luxo car with a sport package, fwd doesnt help matters though. My main issue is the lack of aftermarket for the TL-S

^while the TL is beautiful and sporty, you've been itching for something more ever since you bought it.

Be happy, sir.

Not a fan of the interior design nor the fit and finish on the STIs. But everything else is nice. Very fun to drive.

Also most STI drivers in my area are bona fide dbags. Lol

no dbag here, just want to have some fun. i hear you on the interior, its budget for sure. but i can understand why they saved money on the interior for other things. i can look past that. heck, ive driven my fair share of hondas.

ive always wanted more sounds bad. the TL-S is a lot of car but it just got old quick. not sure why.

It's a personal call really, if you want a nice car with nice features and comfort, the TL. If you want a car with performance, the STI!

I was in the same boat as you, I was looking into getting rid of my TLS and getting a G37 because I wanted the power and a 6 speed. I still want the G37 but I decided against it due to finances, just not a good idea to go out and spend more money and lose the payments/money I've already put into the TLS.

I got my 04 5AT for 13k. 2 years from now I will make the decision to get a 08 TL-S or 10 sh-AWD 6mt. The new one may look ugly, but sure drives nice.

I cant handle crappy interior, after 10 years it does not hold up

That is all dependent on what the 5g looks like.
If it is hot like the 3G, I'll just have to wait a little longer to get a used car.
:-). Never buy new anymore

STis' are a blast. co drove one for a few autox seasons. gotta treat'em like red headed stepchildren to mak'em dance, but once the dance starts, they are fun as hell. enjoy! youll like the car if your itching for some excitement. flatspins are a blast. makes me long for snow again (wagon will only flatspin in snow...no hp, lol).

I can understand the want for performance, your young. I'd say go for it. There will always be a sedan out there when your older. You see what I own in my sig.

Go for it. I know you're missing your G8, this might help fill that need.

STi.

But keep in mind that you have one of the more harder to find TL-S due to it being a 6MT. There could be someone on AZ who would be willing to take the car off your hands. I don't know how much the dealership is offering you for the trade-in but I hope it's in your favor. Good luck!

After I owned a New ASM 06 V6 Accord, Nav Leather in 06, I tradded that in 3 months later on a New ASM 06 TL Nav. After 4 months with that car, I tradded that in on a New ASM 07 Type-S. Then 6 months later I tradded that in on a New 07 NPB Civic Si sedan, then a year later I tradded that in for an 06 WDP TL 6-speed Certified, then I spend $10,000 on that car, It was SMOKIN HOT. Then 9 months later I tradded that in for a New LOADED 2SS/RS LS3 Manual Orange Camaro with white stripes and orange leather. I LOVED that car, and 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, and 0-100 in 10.5 seconds was a blast !!! I owned that car for 26 months until I got rid of that in Dec 2011. I got the POWER/SPEED BUG OUT OF ME. I missed SO MANY things about the TL. In 2 months or so, I am buying an 07-08 WDP Type-S with CASH

Maybe you need to get the POWER/SPEED BUG out of you also by getting an STI.
Maybe you will also miss the TL ????

I was NUTS back then. Not anymore Thank GOD !!!!

If you're going to get it, you better abuse it. Don't drive it like a TL, STi's are meant to get dirty.

Get the STI, run it hard and enjoy it, don't get to many tickets and then we will see you in a new 5G soon . I say that because I thought I was done with the TL in 05' but I came back.

The TL Type-S is a great car in the aspect of 'sporty' with luxury. There is no doubt that the STi is a better car. I won't talk you out of it, but instead into it Come three years, that STi will hold its value better than any TL could ever do. Good luck!

Why convince you to keep the TL? You obviously want a more performance based car, and the STI is a great choice.

i dreamt last night that I had the WRX STI...just the exhaust note alone was too cool. Good luck with the trade and the STI.

We want pics.

I wouldn't do it. They are slow stock and need a tune + bolt-ons to be truly fast. And the Evo X has better driving dynamics, in my opinion. But I'm biased because I love the old STI's and am 'meh' about the new ones.

The fuck are you talking about, it ran a 7:55 on the Ring, that's fucking faster than the CTS-V. It's the fastest saloon/sedan to lap the ring.
