Taking off front side marker
Taking off front side marker
Someone egged my beautiful TL and while I did sucessfull wash everything off, some of the yellow yolk sipped underneath the side marker. I tried pulling on it lightly and while it does give a little bit, I don't know if it is of the snap-on/snap-off variety or if it is simply glued on.
What is the best way to take off the side marker so I can properly clean it?

The service manual says to remove the inner fender (a couple of screws and a bunch of clips), and then carefully push the light out from behind the fender.
It has to be pushed straight out, so if you try and do it from the outside you probably can't keep it straight and you might crack something.

I had opened the fender liner to wire the LED side markers so I did it that way.
The side marker housing has two integrated (molded in) plastic clips that snap beyond the fender opening once they are past it, holding the assembly to the fender.
To remove the side marker, you push on both plastic clips at the same time (they are front and rear of the marker) and push it out.
You could try from the outside by inserting a small flat blade item and pushing in the clips, but you will most likely damage the paint in the process.
As they are LED, they are not intended to be easily removed as they should not need servicing under normal conditions.
Sorry about the egg.
