Taking delivery tomorrow . . . and the end of the 6MT saga???
For those of you who have followed the 6MT gear slippage saga, it appears our journey is just about at an end.
My tranny has been replaced, and all appears well.
I pick up my Anthracite/Ebony 6MT/NAV TL at 4pm tomorrow.
I am told that just a few of the early 6MT cars, likely with VIN #s similar to mine, perhaps 5 or so, slipped through the cracks with the ill-fitting gear I described in the other threads.
I came close to buying a 540i, and at the last minute nearly walked away with a 2001 X5 3.0 Sport with Steptronic.
In the end, the TL was the best deal and offers a lot of content that will be appreciated, ie NAV, XM, Bluetooth, etc. Not to mention 270 hp, 6 gears, Brembos, etc.
As compensation for the problem, they lowered the money factor on my lease, which will save me about $800 over 42 mos.
They also bought me a set of V-rated Blizzak LM-22s (225/50/17) and mounted them on the stock 17s, an $800 value.
In the summer, I have my choice of a free set of stock 17s with the Potenza RE030s, or can pay $500 under cost for the 18" setup (my likely choice), which will cost me $948.
The trans. will be warranted for 100k miles. The dealer is picking up the first A and B services.
I can say this with absolute certainty. Without the service, attention to detail, and friendship of John Vasos, Head of Service at Acura of Brookfield, this transaction would not have gone through.
Now if only Sprint would get a HFP enabled phone . . .

They should do pretty well. I wanted the Dunlop Winter M3s, but they were all sold out a tire rack, at least in the 225/50/17 size I wanted.

I'm not 100% but doesn't 225/50/17 change your overall diameter?
I was gunna get 215/50/17 to keep the OD the same but then found out that 215's won't fit on our 8" rim. Intead I went with 235/40/17 the stock size. I'm running on Dunlop DS1's.

225s will fit on an 8" rim.
At 60mph, I will get .3 MPH speedometer error, at least that's what the online tire calculators said. The folks at the tire rack and the dealer also confirmed that a 225/50/17 would work.

Soounds like you had a good dealer to work with. As someone who hasn't been able to find a Navi 04 yet, your problem gave me a little hesitation, but seeing how the dealer made it up to you was very reassuring.
Hope it's all behind you...receding very quickly in your rearview mirror!

I `m still debating on having the 1st gear pop out fixed. It doesn`t happen very often. Maybe I`ll wait to see if it get s any worse. The dealer knows about it and wants to check it out also.BRAHTW8, what`s the dealer`s name and number in case my dealer wants more info. on it. BTW, glad yoy ended up with the TL.I was also looking at getting a used 540 6spd,but thought why spend all that money on a USED car with high miles when the TL is New.

I'm glad you got things worked out!
I just picked mine up It's a beautiful car, I'm very pleased!
Unfortunately, it was dark by the time I left the dealership so I couldn't do a really good inspection. However, the 11 mile drive home was fine - no squeeks, creaks, rattles, groans...
Tonight I'll read everything, tomorrow a little bit of driving & Sunda whne no one is on the road I'll take it out for a long, long test drive

Braht your a really understanding guy. I would not of taken delivery of a car that had a known problem . I know they fixed it but , I just wouldn't pay good money for a NEW car that had replacement parts. These cars are not one of a kind. Just my 2cents....
Good luck with your new 6 speed.

Zexi, he is getting a car that is new, has been looked over three ways from Sunday and probably better than ones not getting all that attention. The new trans will work fine and if not...they will take care of him/it. And he gets $$$ off , tires, etc. etc. which is not what others in this market are getting...at least not me! Would I trade what he is getting for the inconvenience? Probably not, but if you have already had the inconvenience, the deal they made with him is more than fair. They could have just said good bye and sold the car to someone else probably for msrp. Acura of Brookfield is a class act imho.
