Tachometer location
Tachometer location
So today I thought how much better it would be if the tachometer was on the right side instead of left. I don't know about you all, but I like to grab the steering wheel at the 12 o'clock position and a lot of times, my left arm would completely block it. Any thoughts from people especially with 6MT like me?
Is it ever possible to swap the location with the temp and gas gauge or is our cluster one piece?

My guess is because the 12 o'clock position is one of the worst places to grab the wheel.........
And doesn't it just make sense that if your arm is in the middle then it's gonna block visibility?
Problem is solved by driving with hand in better position.

Yeah do yourself a favor and don't let people see you if you're going to hold the wheel that way.. it says more about you than you think. 9 and 3 would just be better in every single way being 10 and 2 has fallen by the wayside due to airbags. And you'll see every gauge you could ever need that way.

Although I use 9 and 3 due to how the TL's steering wheel is made. It's got those grooves inbetween 9 and 10 as well as 2 and 3... At the end of that little lump/groove feels like a rest for my thumbs.
It feels nice, as opposed to my Cutlass I used to have.

I agree with OP, not necessarily with his hand position maybe, but it seems more natural to me to look to the right, not the left to see the Tach. Back to the original question, has anyone swapped the Tach to the right of the speedometer? Thanks.
Love some of the replies.....
With all the seriousness though, is it wrong to grab the wheel at the 12 o'clock position? I don't know if driver's ed teaches you that or not. I took it nearly 14 years ago so I don't remember.

Yes, if the airbag deploys it wouldn't be good, and you can respond better at 10&2 or 3&6. You'll never seen a race car driver driving from 12
Meandering down a highway at seventy miles per hour does not require the same steering response (even in the gravest situation) as a vehicle on a racetrack.
As far as the hand at the 12:00 position, I sometimes do that if my other hand is on the shifter, like if I'm in slow-moving traffic and shifting frequently. Otherwise I find it uncomfortable.
