Unhappy Switchblade keycut and program

Does anyone in Northern VA has switchblade key cut and program done yet? I went two different dealerships to get my switchblade keycut and program done, but they don't want to do it. Does anyone in here know where can i go to get my keycut and program? thanks

I will just be looking for a local locksmith when I get mine cut. Not sure about your area, but that's where I would start looking.

I have a blank but I need to get it milled first. If you find a shop in the area that will do it, let me know.

Unfortunately, the milling is the difficult part. Match cutting and immobilizer programming, if done correctly is the easy part.

your best bet is to look in the yellow pages and find a locksmith. Look for ones that specialize in safe and safe breaking since they know a lot of the technical stuff.

Hmmmm, Funny you mention this. Some poor sap locked himself out of his car today at work and while the mobile locksmith was doing his thing, I asked about the switchblade key. He seemed to understand what I was talking about and mentioned a few places in the area that he thought could do it but keep in mind that the key has to be milled like our old key for it to work. A few places I called were talking as if all they had to do was cut it and not mill it. I will be headed out to Dulles this weekend so let me know if they do a good job and I will be on my way with key in hand.

Damn, on second thought, they just may be able to cut and mill the key from looking at they website. Those are some pretty tough looking locks and keys. Let me know how it goes tomorrow and I will plan a trip to see them.

at the moment I can't, since the shop is booked for at least 3 weeks and I need to know how many keys to get out by then, and acura isn't the greatest in getting out 100's of keys at once

I don't think there is a list going yet. I think csmeance said he was working on trying to get some keys milled for us but the shop he had used was closed up for a little while. Mr Heeltoe was working on something too. I think there are too many people on here that have keys that need them milled for anyone to keep track of. We all should just keep our eyes open for another groupbuy to get our keys milled.

My switchblade key was just put on ebay. It was purchased from FLBUSA about a year ago and I never got it cut. It has been milled down to be usable in your 2004-2006 TL.

DOOOOOD!!! You could have sent me a PM and I would have snagged it from you. I will check out your auction but if I don't get it, good luck with the sale.

Sorry, wasn't paying much attn to the need. I just knew there were people that wanted it. I should have posted it here first "internally" instead of allowing the rest of the world to have access. Where's the love, man?!

I'm sure it will get some attention, although many that want it are probably tired of checking ebay and not having any success. Hopefully I'll get some reasonable coin for it.

No worries man. I'm sure you will get more than what you are asking. Post it out on the blackmarket section and change your title on eBay since the late model Accords and some TSX's can probably use the milled key too. I'm going to be patient and wait for Csmeance to come through for me.

ok so I just put a bid in on the key! If I don't win it I will be patient and wait for csmeance as well. I knows there are a LOT of people on here that have the keys that need them milled. I also know that csmeance said he was working on it and would let us know so I am being patient and won't bug him. Anyway, if I win the key I will just post my unmilled key up so someone with an 07 or 08 can buy it. If I lose a lil $ oh well, lesson learned.

What about the demobilizer chip in the key itself? What has to be done with this chip? Does an Acura dealer need to program it?

^ yes, after the key is milled you will need to have it cut and programmed. Sometimes the locksmith that cuts your key will be able to program your immobilizer chip, a dealer can do this as well. You will need to bring ALL keys that you have for your car to the person who will be programming your immobilizer chip. The last step is to program the remote transmitter for the key. This will allow the buttons on the key to work for your specific car. This can be done by ANYONE it is very easy and I posted the instructions for this step in the link below.

I have tried to search on this topic but haven't had any luck. Will the 07-08 switchblade keys on ebay work with a 2006 TL? Even after milling down and cutting the key itself?

Does that include the remote? I would contact locksmith's in your area and ask them pricing to cut and program a car key.
