You can purchase surcode software from www.minnetonka.com. You can purchase discwelder software from www.discwelder.com. They also have authorized dealers who sell the software for less than list price.
I bought discwelder through www.audiomidi.com.

Hi Mike,
Did you buy the Silver version of diskwelder or Chrome?
Without the MLP option, won't .wav or aiff files be written in uncompressed format (wav and aiff formats are the only formats supported on a DVD Audio disc, correct?)?
I wonder if those of us who are clamoring to write a DVD Audio disc should get together and buy it?

You are correct, the files it writes are uncompressed. It converts the .WAV and .AIFF files to LPCM (LPCM and MLP-encoded LPCM are the only formats supported by the DVD-A standard).
I can get ~7 hrs of CD quality stereo or ~2 hours of DVD-V (Dolby Digital or DTS) quality 5.1 music on a disc.
While DiscWelder Steel was pretty pricy, it's the cheapest DVD-A software out there (until DiscWelder Bronze comes along), and Minnetonka's support was very helpful to me in chasing down what the TL player would support before I bought the software.
