Very very nice find. I wouldn't have a problem buying that car site unseen. However, I already found my "dream" Type S so I'm good to go, but would be nice to see that extremely low mileage example go to a good home.

Yeah, that might be a bad buy depending on how the car was used and stored. The rubber might be shot, shocks might be shot, engine block may be etched. At a 1000 miles a year that car was sitting a lot!
I'd check to make sure all is well. As far as interior wear and tear goes it should be fine but the rest you'll have to have a tech check it out. I'd want to see if the inside of the engine has been etched. Also multiple short trips are stressful on a car rather than one long drive.
Just don't be too excited to throw down money on it. Modern or not materials do not change in the way they react to each other.

Damn. I told myself if it was black and especially if it were a manual I was going to buy it. I can have the money deposited in my account in 3 business days. I might jump on this. If I can get it shipped out here, out the door for the asking price I'm 100% in.
It will make a good parts car for my base model and then I'll sell it for scrap metal.

Also, same with the shocks.
I'm not going to argue about the engine block etching though as I cannot scientifically argue that one.

Excellent point paperboy I was gonna say the same thing. I think D1sturbed is kind of overreacting. I'm sure the car is basically mint and like new. I wouldn't worry about anything he mentioned whatsoever. If it makes any potential interested parties feel better mine has been absolutely wonderful. The original Bridgestone Potenzas did have a couple minor splits in a couple spots but the tires were made in 2006 so that was expected. Besides that the car was basically like a "new" old car. DO NOT hesitate to buy this car.

Almost 26k grand for a 6 year old car that is going to be two generations behind the 2015 model year (TLX)? Pass.

Well I understand what your saying, but also think of it this way...yeah the car is technically outdated by today's standards, but your still more or less getting a new car for mid twenties. You can't get anything on the level of even a 6 year old Type S for that price new or even used. 2015 TLX will probably cost 45 grand. Even new or slightly used 4G's are around 40k. So it's actually a really good way to get a "new" old car for relatively cheap comparatively speaking. But again, I do see what your saying.

idk man, i would stay away from that.
unless the owner had the car running every so often instead of letting it sit there with the battery not connected.
1000 miles a year? how is that even possible? you'd have to drive 1-3 miles a day give and take. it was probably an old lady who couldn't walk or something.

If only mine were a manual I would make it into a track rat if I had this low mileage example as a daily. It still might not be that bad with a high stall converter. I wonder if the 5at gear ratios are changeable, a close ratio non overdrive 5 speed would be pretty cool. I would be happy with just a lower final drive but it's already a crazy 5.xx:1 ratio.
Anyway, going off topic too far but when Monday rolls around I'm going to put some serious thought into it. Even if the owner never changed a single fluid it would still be ok lol. I would fully expect to throw a set of tires on it and seals hardening aren't a big deal like they were in the past before engine oil had seal conditioners. Maybe an air filter in case the rubber hardened but I believe the stock filters use a silicone seal anyway. The battery might need changing soon. I would expect some basic maintenance but it's not going to be this disaster. I've taken extremely good care of mine and I guarantee this low mileage car is going to be less trouble than my relatively trouble free car.

I agree. There's nothing in the lineup that really interests me but I don't know how many times I've thought if only the 3G were still for sale. Well here it is, a basically new 3G for sale.

You act like it's some horrible thing. Miles are what break a car down!!! You think a cars components really care whether it sits overnight or for two weeks? Your calling this car bleh, but if you saw it in person you would be like holy shit that's really a brand new car. You think 6,000 miles is low for a 2008? There is a 2006 Z06 vette on eBay right now with 24 miles...yes 24, like driven home from the dealership 8 years ago and parked. Id buy that shit lol

all I know is that dino oil becomes acidic over time and if the oil was never changed, well that means the engine might have some problem!

I don't get this fear of low mileage at all. I work from home now and in the past 3 years, I've had 3 different cars, and I only put 1,000 miles on each one. The only one I had any issues with was my 01 Vette and it was that the battery would die if it wasn't driven every week. I got a CTEK battery tender and never had another problem.
OK, I take that back. My G35 has flat spots on the tires because I didn't drive it for a couple months. I think that could also be because it has KungPow chinese tires on it though.
I just bought an 04 TL with high miles and believe me, I'd MUCH rather be doing things to this 6K mile car than mine. High miles and northern winters make for a royal PITA doing things.

The car in question is only 5-6 years old depending on the production date- if it was 20+ years old, I might worry about engine seals and the like, but I wouldn't worry about those issues in this car.

Well if the car somehow did have mechanical problems, you can be pretty sure IHC would know what to do with it ![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
But I think it is a semi-decent buy, I think the year will give you some power in negotiating. I'm almost sure they probably got like 17-19k trade-in value. So you're best bet is 21-23k. Almost no dealer will pay more then 20k for that Type-S regardless of miles.

In my world there are lots of GNs around with under 10,000 miles and quite a few with under 1,000 miles. This has taught me a lot and changed my understanding of what happens when cars sit. I'm not talking about the ones that sit in a bubble because that's not a fair comparison. They are surprisingly leak free and problem free. The TL that's way newer and made with better materials and filled with a better oil is going to have no problems at this age from sitting.
Battery, tires, fluids, sure, but very little else. I've even let fuel sit for 3 years with no stabilizer and it was fine. As long as the tank is topped off and there's as little air in the tank as possible, the fuel will keep. Considering the mileage and the age, fuel would not have had enough time to go bad.

Dude, why does everybody think everything's gotta be a scam? Haha. Cuz im sure that dealership took pictures of a fake Type S in their showroom. Now if it was on Craigslist listed for 14k with 6,000 miles in Chicago and the pictures have palm trees in the background from South Florida then yes I would say its a scam. This one, it's legit as it gets.

They just wanna make you come in and tell you "I'm sorry we justtttt sold that one but we have this one!"
..They pulled that crap on my cousin when he was first shopping for his 08 Accord. Dealers will do anything to bring in customer man.

I've been looking a good car for my son who just turned 16. My TLS has been a good car so I wouldn't mind another one in the garage. I talked to the dealer on this one and it sounds like there is a lot of interest. I offered a $500 deposit with a price of $23k and they turned it down. I can't see paying any more than that especially since I would have to fly to pick it up and drive back for several hours. I like the NBP but I prefer the black and grey interior.

Yeah dealers are definitely not as flexible as far as price goes and I'm not surprised this one is getting a lot of attention especially since there is no other one with that mileage in the country. Even though it stinks that they probably won't move much on price, but it's probably smart on their part as someone will eventually pay the price to get a one of a kind vehicle. I know I would...errr wait, I mean I did. Well not 26 grand, but not too far from it.
