Super Annoying Axle

Hey I'm in the process of purchasing new axles at Advance Auto. Unfortunately all the threads that I have read have been pertaining to Manual transmissions. So I have an auto 05' TL and I have found the part:

ToughOne New CV Axle Shaft Assembly
Part No. NCV36128

This part is for the front right side.

Now, the left side is a little more difficult to find because I can't find it! I did see someone mention that I probably would have to find that part on acuraoemparts but I wanted to hear some feedback before I actually pull the trigger on purchasing an oem part.

Can anybody give me the link for the GSP/Toughone or aftermarket front (left) driver side axle for an auto 05' TL?

And if that is not possible, what is the part number for the oem part? Thanks guy.

OEM axles for AT are going to be really $$$$$$$ BTW.

try raxles for aftermarket alternative. i've read mixed results with guys going with the autozone axles.

Definitely. Over $700 for an OE axle.
We use the API ones at our dealer, with no problems.

Times like these, i am grateful for having the M/T. Brand new axles list for $250.

That's because they changed the parts for 07-08 Base/Type S models.
As long as it's an auto tranny, 07-08 axles are the same from an Type S or Base Model. But they won't fit earlier 04-06 A/T

Also: the 6MT Transmissions use the same axles 04-08

A/T axles for the 07-08s go for the same money as 6MT $208.33

I also got the "ToughOne" axles, but for my M/T. I've got close to 10k miles on them now without incident. Not much, I know, but that's all I can offer.

Hmm, I got a quote from Raxles for 404.83 for both shipped to NJ.

But I think aftermarket axles should suffice. Anybody have an opinion on DTA (Drive Tech America)

DTA HO20122011 front Left Right Pair - 2 New Premium CV Axles (Drive Axle Assembly) : Amazon.com : Automotive DTA HO20122011 front Left Right Pair - 2 New Premium CV Axles (Drive Axle Assembly) : Amazon.com : Automotive

If these suck, I might try to see if I can buy one raxle axle for the side which is causing the problem, which is the driver side as opposed to buying both right now.

I would have gone with Raxles but they don't have the M/T axles. From what I read on here when I was researching, the Advance Auto axles were good. They were called something else on this board, but they are now called ToughOne.

Two axles for $95? Even with $29 shipping that is cheap. Maybe too cheap. The Advance ones ran me somewhere around $180 iirc. And if there is ever a problem with them, I can take them back to Advance.

From my knowledge, is Tough One a renamed "GSP" axle correct?

Can anyone confirm if this would fit an automatic 05 meaning would the M/T and A/T driver side front axle be the same part?

Alright I just called an advanced auto tech. Apparently, the parts are compatible. The M/T part will also fit an A/T.

I think that the gsp are the tough one axles. I've been using the GSP axle for years and haven't had a problem. I drive an 04 m/t. I may change them again soon but they are 4-5 years old and have over 50,000 miles on them. Seems to be about the same life span as the OEM axles and 150 for both is wayyyy friggin cheaper.

also, do more research on the axle part numbers, i changed my LF axle seal last week and Advanced gave me the wrong axle seal 4 times! I ended up having to get the seal from Acura and I think they said yea the part numbers are different.

The life span of OEM axles isn't 50k miles unless you do 6k clutch dumps on a daily basis. I have 89k on my originals and they're still fine.

I put a pair of advanced auto tough one axles in my 08 6mt type-s and haven't had any issues. I had the clicking noise coming from the front driver.

IIRC I paid under 120 for them and then another 80 for install. 200$ OTD for two new axles, why the hell not?

Had them for around 3-4k miles and haven't had any issues. I'm also lowered 1.5 inches or so and have zero camber adjustments if that means anything to you guys.

I actually just did my axles, both of them and also have an '05 AT.

I went with Raxles, since I read a lot of bad things about other aftermarket stuff and wasn't about to pay the price for OE axles.

I paid around $540 if I remember correctly, for both axles and shipping both ways (to send back the cores). I'm in Hawaii though, so shipping here is stiff. The raxles come with the spindle nuts as well, definitely noticeable with the new axles in the car there isn't any play in the steering wheel anymore.

I went ahead and did the intermediate shaft ($200 OE part) as well while I was in there, figured it would be worth it since I don't want to be in there again anytime soon after disassembling everything and there's a bearing on it.

Did the 3rd & 4th gear pressure switches again as well, that's a quick one while you're doing the driver side.

Careful with the ball-joints, I boogered one up pretty good .. have a replacement on the way and also managed to pop the ball-joint out with the lower control arm sleeve attached to it on my driver's side (that's the one that got boogered up). Have a new control arm on the way too..

I'd be concerned with this store/representative. The parts can't be the same.

Just a friendly reminder, almost any kid can get a job at an Autozone/Advanced/API. They don't need any experience. Be careful who you trust as your parts person.

I once called one of my "sister" autozone stores, and asked the kid for a Flux capacitor for an 86 Delorean...... He was trying to look it up, and then told me it was a dealer part only.

Ladies and gentlemen; ^this statement is 100% true.

Ugh bro you're probably right...
I just wish somebody would confirm or give me the link to the correct part. How does AAP carry only the front passenger side for the automatic and not the front driver side -.-

What part of jersey are you in, are they any autopart international's around your area?

The only reason i keep insisting on this particular brand/store is because we use them as replacements here at my dealer in order to save the customer some money. As far as i know,we haven't had any issues with them or any comebacks. So, i can really only speak for these, not what the other members are using.

API sells them for around $120 i believe,
