Strange Occurance In 05 TL

Hello everyone- this is my first post- I've owned Acuras for the last 10 years and have been pretty satisfied with my experience. I have had an 05 TL for 6 months that I am for the most part very satisfied with. Something happened that is very unusual- has never occurred with any other car I have owned. After the car was sitting in an enclosed parking garage in a large city for 24 hrs., I walked up to the car to notice every window was down exactly 1 inch. This is really wierd. Is it possible that another persons key fob transmission or perhaps a fire truck or ambulance could have created this? It just happened and I have not called Acura yet. I did engage the window lock so that at least if it happens again, I'm presuming only the driver window will be affected. Anyone have similar experience with this?

if you press the unlock button on ur keyfob twice and hold it down the 2nd time ur windows and ur sunroof will all go down depending on how long u hold it for...so you might have as u walked away from ur car or the person who parked ur car might have had a little ADD issue where he loves to push buttons or you might have been playing around with the buttons..this happens to me sometimes to because i have major ADD...hope this helps and thats its nothing else serious

was your sunroof open?? if so then u pressed the fob or something else with your fob signal triggered it. If the sunroof is open too then it doesnt have anthing to do with the window lock

Thanks for the info- I'm the only person that drives the car- believe it or not I have not valet'd or given any of my cars to an attendant in many, many years-just the way I am. Thanks for mentioning about the sunroof and that it too may be opened- I didn't even check. The garage where the car is parked is part of the building that I live in and there are at least 2 or 3 2004 or 2005 TL's parked there on a regular basis. You have to wonder if there is a connection.

I dont think so...it is nearly Impossible for someone elses key fob to have the same code as yours...I used to work at best buy and the alarm installer once told me that with the Viper alarm I had a possibility of 1 in 60 million or more; something like that of having the same code....same is the case with our keys...something like your automatic garage door-opener (very less chance of someone having the same code)

Actually there is a much higher chance of a factory alarm having similar codes than an aftermarket alarm. They usually use many less codes and simpler encoding. It's even worse with garage door openers. This comes from having spent 15 years doing alarm installs. I even had one day where we installed a few alarms and ended up with two cars being controlled with each others remotes. Obviously this was back when there we a lot less codes being used and we swapped out the alarm brains to fix it.

I remember reading at another car forum a while back that a few people were able to set off other cars' alarms at the mall parking lot with their factory remote.

So does it work the opposite way? If you press the lock button twice and hold it in it will roll all of the windows up? If so i don't recall reading it in the manual.

No. You can only close the windows and moonroof by turning the key to lock twice and then holding it. You can also open them with the key by turning it the opposite way twice and holding it.

It was the first time it ever happened; probably was the fob- I recall that I was carrying my groceries and the fob and my hands were full so maybe I accidentally hit the button. Thanks again for all your input.
