Stone Chip Guard Protection Film

Has anyone had this done on thier car? Trimline uses 3M film and they are quoting $675 for front bumpers, 12" on the hood, lights and mirrors. I travel on the highway and already have some very minor chips. My TL is only 1 month old. Would love to hear from you if you have had this done before I spend the $675.

Speaking from experience, buy the 3M Protection film from whomever is gonna do the installation. That way, it'll make things easier for you if anything happens.

you can search for clearbra and/or ppf. Lots of posts on this. I seem to recall the consensus on diy is that it is an extreme pain in the ass and time consuming. There were a few recommended places to buy the film online though. Be careful of the different brands (ventureguard vs 3m ppf) and even versions of 3m film (theres an older version and a newer version - make sure you get the newer)

I am making a custom piece to cover the rear sideskirt in front of the rear tire after I get it painted. You can get mudflaps to preven most of the chips.

I already got mud flaps, so I guess I am good there. I think getting on the front lip would be wise for me.

I have it... Complete kit, new material... Blue TL, less noticeable than the old material on my Sunset Orange WS-6 Trans Am was. General rule is the lighter the car, the harder to see the stuff. All you see of it is the line where it ends on the hood, but I HIGHLY recommend it esp for our flat bumpers which are prone to chipping if you do a lot of highway driving. I know people say that you can get your bumper repainted and stuff for the clear install price, but why bother? Protect 'er up front and enjoy years of a paint chip free bumper instead

We don't have Aspec in Canada. I think we call it Dynamic Package? But I don't think the dynamic package includes the skirts.

Well I finally got the film protection put on yesterday. Front bumper, fenders, lights, hood. It cost $750 in Toronto and they used 3M Trimline. Hope it lasts. They say it wont fade or peel. Should have done this when the car was new because a few chips still showing through. Thanks for all your posts!!

I would recommend this to all new buyers.

Got a new TL for my wife a few weeks ago and got a kit from www.clearmask.com . I followed their dvd directions and took my time. I am very satisfied with it. I had the same material on my 2001 MDX and six years later, it still looked good!

I have a full AutoBhand flim covering the nose, front bumper, and mirrors. I love it. Might just be the Anthracite color but it is almost seamless unless you look at it up close. Not sure about the other clear film systems but AutoBhand comes with a 5 year warranty. They will replace it as many times as you want over the 5 year period. Well worth it....
