Steering Wheel Removal DIY/Tutorial

Just a little tip/how-to to save others from having to do it twice like I did.

tools needed:
T30 tip w/ extension
14mm socket
ratchet (I used an impact driver)

Disconnect the the positive terminal on the battery.

Remove the 2 screws, one on each side of the steering wheel, T30

Also on the under side st 6 o’clock remove the cap to expose the yellow airbag plug. unclip it.
Lift up the airbag and unclip the horn plug.
Unclip this white plug for the buttons. Take the center bolt out with the 14mm. I used an impact driver but I’m sure you can break it with a ratchet just fine. Other have suggested once you take that bolt out, put it back in a couple turn so when you go to pull the wheel off and it breaks free it doesn’t come off and into your face. It takes a couple tries but hitting it all around the side and yanking here and there worked for me.
As others have mentioned there are notches on the spline and wheel so make sure you use those and line it up before putting everything back together.
Reverse the steps and reconnect the battery. You’ll need your radio code.
