Steering Wheel Covers

okay...naturally...leather will wear down...and i know that we have the infamous butt prints and all, but lately i have noticed that my steering wheel has alot of wear and tear around when your fingers 'go' while driving. i was wondering if anyone has any cool or nice looking steering wheel covers preferably something with blue side cloth or anything of that nature throw some ideas out there please

steering wheel covers are ugly... for the most part. havent really seen one that wasnt ugly....

in light of that, just let it wear down and when its totally gone, get the aspec steering wheel.

granted it will be expensive, but it wont be ugly. thats for damn sure.

I bet you anything that it is just dirt or (i know this may sound sick) dead skin buildup. Just use a leather cleaner like Lexol and the steering wheel will look like new.

i have about 23,000 miles on my car and the leather on my steering wheel is cracking. Cracked so much some it came off. I used Lexol leather wipes and started using Zymol Leather Conditioner and Cleaner. Went to the Acura Dealer and he says it's from the acid in your palms. Quoting from the dealer: "Large people don't secrete as much acid as thinner people, so depending on your weight, your palms secrete acid and that's why your steering wheel is cracked like that." This is even after I told him that I used Zymol almost every other week. Then of course he said that his 04 TL is developing the same problem and he's the Service Manager. But, he told me the A-Spec steering wheel has a covering at the top to match the interior. Warranty? All he could tell me was this was a wear and tear issue. There was another TL that was the same color as mine and we looked at the steering wheel. Sure enough, that one was about to crack to. Where does warranty fit in? This the first car I've ever had with leather.

Do you keep your car out in the elements or is it parked in your garage?

And when you drive it to work is it out in the sun?

I am just wondering if it has anything to do with that?

That way the rest of could consider some type of prevention.

I have an 04 but it is immaculate.
It is kept in the garage and is rarely exposed to the elements,
which obviously in my case it is "SUN" for the most part.

I take a clean white cloth and put some lexol leather cleaner on it and go around in parts around the steering wheel like I am accelerating on a Bike by the time I am done with it the whole cloth is BROWN...was quite surprised at the amount of dirt that accumulates on the steering...now I do it everytime I do my interior...finally put some zaino leather conditioner @ the end but...make sure you drive carefully if you have to drive immediately after doing this since it can get slippery...
