This is a scam. The person will probably say that the car is part of the eBay exchange program and it is in Florida or something and tell you to Money Order them the money or say their out of the country.

This thread is a epic fail!

+1 to scam/missing one. 14,000K sounds about right. Sad how cheap TLs are selling for these days.

True it's becoming affordable for kids to buy, race/rice, and destroy.

Not to mention the "thugs" and ghetto individuals I've seen beating out in them and driving recklessly around town.

Actually, I found out after I bought my '06 TL used that the previous owner was leaning against it when a van pulled up and shot him dead in the back of the head! Not kidding.

here's a cross-post of mine from clublexus on this scam:

I have been shopping for an Acura TL Type-S and came across some of these ads recently on Autotrader.com. Here's a direct cut and paste from the response I got when I found one that was a really good price, but out of my state:

Hi ,

I'm glad to see you're interested in my car. What state are you in? This car 2008 Acura TL(with a clear title and the remainder of the factory warranty) is still for sale at the price of $20,000.
The car is accident-free, it doesn't have any dents, chips or scratches and the interior is great, never smoked in. All the maintenance done on a regular basis and I have all service records for it.
I'm usually gone with my job, but I can ship you the vehicle at my expense and give you 5 days for inspection.
The financial part of this transaction will be provided by MSN Autos.
If interested please reply with your full name, shipping address and phone number and I will give you more info about this transaction.
Thank you.

Rebecca
************************************************** *************

I contacted the Autotrader.com fraud department, but there are a ton of these ads all over their site now. I found them for the TL, RL, Q45, etc.

The only way to buy a car from a non-reputable dealer or private sale that's out of your area is to get it third-party pre-inspected. SGS or Carchex.
I entertained myself with replies to the scammers indicating I wanted the car to be third party inspected and they NEVER replied back.

+1

Yeah. When I was shopping around for my car I ran across, I'm not kidding, 4 different cars that were extremely similar to this. EVERY single one went like this-

-Nice car at a great deal
-Owner only contacts via email (phone was disconnected)
-Owner in an extrenuating circumstance and can only do the transaction via online (I heard deathly ill, divorced and selling everything, moving away for a new job)
-Wants to do transaction through ebay or MSN- Will ship the car for inspection with xx days of guarenteed return
-Never responds once you ask a legit question that tests them

I started just responding to the emails with one single word: SCAM! And after that I never saw a reply from anyone.

It's pretty pathetic that there are people out there who try this. It's almost as sad that people fall for it.

Yep, Autotrader has tons of scam ads. If you can't go see it in person and get the title or deal directly with their bank if there is a lien, don't even consider it.

Yes because I worked a great deal - no because the murder happened outside of the car and the car was not affected.
