Starter - auto vs manual

I have a quick question on the starter motor of the TL 6spd. On the 5a/t , I used to just turn-over the key once and the starter "automatically" does the cranking until the engine starts up, same as in the mdx. On the TL 6spd, it is different as I turn the key and hold it and it cranks the engine until it starts up. Is this the normal characteristic of all TL Manuals?

Now I looked and both have different part numbers so I am assuming this is normal for the TL Manual?

The one touch starting system is only available on the automatics where the PCM energizes two starter cut relays to control the crank time. Manual one uses the conventional design where the driver gets to control the starter without PCM's help.

The starter itself doesn't have much to do with the feature. One isn't any "smarter" than the other. The difference in starter part numbers is simply due to the bellhousing mounting points not being the same for AT and MT. The ring gear circumference on the flexplate vs dual mass flywheel may play a role as well.
