Start-up vibrations

My TL vibrates profusely, on first start-ups in the morning. -- Is this normal? Once you engage the transmission the vibration stops.

Thanks for your assistance

I have noticed that the TL comes off it's fast idle very quickly in the morning - probably for emissions reduction. When this happens, I would describe it as a bit rough compared to normal for the TL. Many engines run rougher all the time. The engine is warmed up enough to run smoothly by the time I get to the first stop sign three houses down. I only experience this roughness if I start the car cold and just sit there, which I don't do often. If this is what you have noticed, it's not a problem.

Yes, what Aegir said is what I experience as well. By the time I'm a block down the road at a stop light the rough idling is gone. But in the morning when I first start the car up, it is a little shaky!

That it was called ULEV if you see this by the rear window sticker. ULEV is a designed for this car delayed starts for smoked emissions and that is a normal on our engine.

It's a blessing

For what it's worth, I like it.

Growing up with a hopped-up musclecar, I was used to poorly-idling engines. My '67 Firebird (3AT) had to have a 1,700 rpm idle in neutral gear in order to stay running while in drive.

Anyway, that rough TL idle reminds me of yesteryear, for one, and also reminds me of the 270 ponies under the hood, begging for freedom!
