SS Shifting Wuestions

Two SS Questions. First, having driven a standard for years, I began shifting the SS by letting off the gas, but that seems to make it rough. Is it better to keep it floored and shift by knocking up to next gear? Second, is it OK to throw it into SS from Automatic at any speed? Thanks

You don't necessarily have to keep it floored, but you can, and that is a fun thing to do in the TL. Don't let up on the gas, it isn't necessary. The more you stomp on the gas the more fun it is.

Some people say that when you want the fastest acceleration, the automatic mode is better, but where's the fun in that. I think if you are racing someone, and are not really proficient in the SS mode, then automatic is better, but for having fun, SS is good.

When you go into SS from automatic, you are not shifting any gear, you are just going into SS mode, so whatever gear you came out of, that's the gear you will be in SS. The next step is up to you.

You can shift gears among L, D, and SS mode anytime without letting off the gas...
