spraying the tails?

Hey guys, I had a question about using spray tint on tail lights. I was wondering if you can just spray the outside of the plastic, or do you have to take out the lights and spray them on the inside? I would not enjoy taking my entire bumper off just to get to my tails. thanks!

Spray tint is applied on the outside of the lens, then spray a few coats of clear coat. Wet sand, polish, and then wax that bad boy!.

I recommend you remove the lights from the car, spray them at the same time, that way the % of darkness will be closer if not exact match

yea, you also don't want to get over spray on your car, that would suck. definitely take them off.

well if I left them on I would obviously tape the rest of the car off very well so as not to get over spray. and as for getting an exact match in darkness, would just doing the same amount of coats get them both extremely close?

Nope, cuz chances are high that you're distance away from the lens will be different, your speed in which your hand moves will be different, the angle in which you spray will be diffferent.

I mean, you CAN do it like that, or you can do it correctly and remove the lights. I know its a PITA but def. worth it

take the bumper off and take the lights out, it's not that hard! I did mine in about an hour, find a helper and it'll go quicker.

He's saying if you take the tails off and spray them at the same time side by side there's a better chance that you'll keep the same motion and applied pressure. If you do them on the car obviously you would have to do one at a time and there's a very small chance you'd be able to keep the same pressure and motion for each one. So taking them off gives you a better chance at matching darkness and equal results.
