Spray-on bug protection?
Hope this is not OT for this forum, but it doesn't exactly fit the wash & wax subforum.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the protectants that spray on to keep bug splatters and road debris from marring your paint. You supposedly just wash them off after use. Rain-X makes one and I've also seen one advertised from Dupli-Color (the spray paint people).
When I go on road trips, the bugs are of course brutal, and even after a thorough cleanup, they leave little "ghost" marks in the clearcoat that require clay bar to remove. I'm hoping this stuff might prevent that ...
Anyone ever use them? Any good?

I have just apllied RejeX this past Sunday and should have a very good idea within the next 2 weeks as I drive my car for work.
I know what you mean by brutal, the whole front end of my car needed special treatment of Bugg-off after I washed it in preparation for the RejeX, I spent a good 30 minutes and could not get the surface spec free, ghost marks were left on the 3M Paint Protection Film after a 870 miles work week.
I can't wait to see how this stuff will hold up and will post result soon. If you don't get any news from me within the next 3 weeks, please reply to this thread.
Best regards from Montreal, Canada

They will not scrub off totally with a clear bra!
I know, I have the whole front end of my TL done and the bugs are harder to remove from the clear bra then from the paint.
The bugs leaves ghost on the film and no rubbing whatsoever get's the stuff spec free but I love the protection from stone chips.

. Let me know what happens after the rejex, it works good for me, I put on 2 coats Trending Topics
Thanks for the replies, guys. I have a trip coming up for Thanksgiving, and I think I'll try this stuff.
I just wondered if it really comes off easily when the time comes, if it washes off if you go through a rainstorm, and mainly if it really works. Guess you'd just carry it with you and reapply.
In any case, sounds like it's definitely better than nothing!

The two products I was originally referring to are:
Rain-X Protectant
and
Duplicolor Shield
Both are temporary shields against bug splatters and general road debris. The Duplicolor one even refers to itself as a "temporary bra". Cool.
I think I'll try to locate some of the Duplicolor stuff and give it a whirl. Can't hurt.

I guess they should have a warning on that spray can from Duplicolor that state the following" Will not offer any protection against Stone Chips like a paint protection film"
Hope it works good for you

And contrary to many here, I'm just not a clear bra aficionado. I know paint touchup guys who can make chips disappear for 'way less than the cost of a bra, and I don't like that little line bras make, either.
But then again, I don't use Zaino, either, so I guess I'm a total freak.
